Adi Philosir (b. 18 May 1977) is a Sydalene politician, and previously a claimed Dictator of Sydalon.
After the Sydalene Revolution he served as Leader of Il Radicali and on the revolutionary Select Committee for Popular Unity and Safety. Philosir gained notoriety after a being among the first to call for the abolition of the Sydalene monarchy; he also called for the immediate abolition and non-recognition of noble titles in Sydalon. He was arrested by Royal Marshals on 13 May 2018 and is awaiting trial for high treason.
Early life and career
Philosir was born in Ostracine on 18 May 1977; he is the middle child of four children. His father was a car salesman, and his mother a teacher for the Ostracine school board. He joined the Sydalene army, where he served his mandatory term of 36 months from 1995 to 1997. He was primarily stationed on the southern border with Yisrael.
In 1998, he began university at Saint Philip's University in Philippopolis. He graduated in 2001 with a degree in journalism, soon after earning employment at DephaSydalon news offices; he later was promoted to POST at the main Delpha office in Ostracine. He resigned from his post in 2014 to being working as a citizen activist.
Political career
In 2014, Philosir became one of the initial members of the political group People for People's Tribune. The group later reformed into the political party now known as Il Radicali. Ahead of the 2014 election, Philosir ran for Popular Assembly in Ostracine Centrali; he was also included on the party list. He failed to gain election to the Senate in the Ostacine Centrali constituency, finishing as the third highest vote getter. He also failed to gain membership as a Senator At-large after Il Radicali failed to surpass the electoral threshold of 8%.
Between the 2014, and 2016 elections, Philosir was a key figure in the growth of Il Radicali, and was a regular participate in citizens rallies and political meetings throughout Ostracine and central Sydalon. In 2016, Philosir once again stood for Senate in the Ostracine Centrali constituency and also as a list member for Il Radicali. Once again he failed to secure a constituency seat, though earned election to the senate as a Senator At-large by party list.
Sydalene Revolution
Philosir was a key figure during the Sydalene Revolution, and was present with protesters since the first protests against Queen Melisende III began on 31 December 2017. Photographs of Philosir at Pontu Sant Filipe first began to circulate on social media, where he was seen arm-in-arm with protesters just before the storming of the government facility. The following day, he joined protesters outside of Palace de Aultavilla in Ostracine as Queen Melisende fled the city.
On 10 January 2018, Philosir was among the first senators to suggest the abolition of the monarchy. During an emergency session of Senate, he declared Queen Melisende III "a tyrant of the highest order". During the same speech, he called for the abolition of the monarchy:
"It is time for the people to finally take control of their government. For far too long, the government has not held consent of the governed and the people only marginalized. I put forth to this honorable Senate that we vote at once and unanimously for the abolition of the crown"
The measure would pass, though failed to see all titles of nobility be abolished.
Since the revolution, Philosir has become one of the most prominent members of the Select Committee for Popular Unity and Safety. He has continued his call for the abolition of all titles of nobility, and has become Leader of Il Radicali.
