Ossoria (Ossorian: Osraí; formally Ard Ríocht Osraí, literally "[the] High Kingdom of Ossoria"), is an island nation off the western coast of the continent of Eracura. Located in the Northern Nuadan Ocean, it lies to the west of Shalum and northwest of Azurlavai, separated from these continental states by the Mallian Sea.
The core territory of Ossoria is comprised of an archipelago of over 200 islands, commonly referred to as the Ossorian Home Islands (Oileáin Baile Osraí). The largest of these is Oileán Mór (Great Island), the island occupied by the Kingdom of Kenlis which accounts for approximately two-thirds of the total land area of the Home Islands. Other major islands in the chain are Oileán Glasa (Green Island, Kingdom of Arless), Oileán Fada (Long Island, Kingdom of Vadre) and Oileán Scairbh (Rugged Island, Kingdom of Fira).
Politically, Ossoria has combined aspects of a powerful monarchy, a strong aristocracy, and an elected democracy to produce a stable political structure. Traditionally, Ossorian politics has a strong history of benevolent monarchical rule and respect for the rights and interests of its various subjects.

The Scepter
The Scepter of Ossoria, which is the colloquial term for both the Monarchy of the High Kingdom as well as the executive branch of the federal government as a whole, is both the head of state and the head of government for the High Kingdom of Ossoria. The first High King, Cerball Silven of the Kingdom of Kenlis, came to power as a response to an invasion by an alliance of Shalumite nobles in the early 9th Century, compelling the Ossorian petty kingdoms to unite against the foreign threat. The Silven family has continued to hold the title to the kingship of Ossoria through to the present day.
The Parliament
The Ossorian Parliament (Dáil Osraí) is made up of three chambers; the General Assembly, the Chamber of Lords and the Conclave.
The Nobility
The Nobility is prevalent throughout Ossorian social and political life, as their members are often among the most influential, wealthy, and powerful in the High Kingdom. This is largely due to the fact that the executive power of each level of government in Ossoria is held by a member of the nobility. However, their power has broadly come to be tempered with an adherence to the principle of noblesse oblige, infractions of which are still directly enforced by the monarchies.

The High Kingdom is a federal monarchy comprised of nine Kingdoms and seven Kingdom-equivalent territories collectively referred to as the Protectorates. The Kingdoms are Kenlis, Arless, Vadre, Fira, Carria, Erdian, Brecon, Roshin, and Tarvi. The Protectorates are the Archduchy of Arzell, the Grand Temple, the Hemar Confederacy, the Principality of Inis, the Vaddon Castellany, and the Dominion of Vormsi.

Ossoria's primary source of energy comes from nuclear power generation, specifically with the prolific use of thorium-based nuclear power. The most common form of this power generation in Ossoria is the liquid fluoride thorium reactor, which has seen service in both the private sector and with the military. Ossoria's domestic thorium deposits, which are among the richest in XXX, made the pursuit of this form of nuclear power generation very attractive when compared to more costly uranium-fueled reactors, and has grown to fill the majority of the High Kingdom's energy needs.
