Mörker åldern

"Mörker åldern" or "the age of darkness" is a reference to the period of the age before the Vedian migration and as such ends in the early 855 BC and documents the rise of the first hunter gatherer societies in Scandera that lived amongst the firtile southlands and in the south of the Northern iceplains where they hunted the mammoth, Reindeers, Shagrats and the rabbuks. The bronze age also started around 1700 BC with large finds of bronze discovered while the wharen culture learned how to use rune silver at the time while humans, elves, dwarves, trolls, haflings and goblins learnt how to use bronze rather quickly even if the idea spread slower to Rån and faries.

Wharen Empire

The greatest culture that arose during the era was the Wharen empire with it's heavy reliance on magic managed to create impressive states and cities while the rest of the peoples lived in lose confederations of tribes. This sociological superiority meant that the wharen were able to enjoy a golden age with agriculture spreading amongst them and they quickly improved the techniques.

Over time so did the Wharen spread their influence and control as the closest tribes over time was annexed and the Wharen themselves colonised large areas around Innanhafet and forcefully re-located their slave species.

The empire managed to spread up to the northern mountains where a large confederation of human, dwarf, goblin and troll tribes managed to put up a unified front and stop the wharen expansion.

Northern tribes

The culture in the north grew remarkable with bronze culture spreading and several archaeological finds have shown both maces, war axes, axes and agricultural tools have been found while the first kings and states showed up in the north.

Also so did architecture take off and especially so did the confederation build several Ringwall fortresses were built amongst the narrow passes that the wharen had to transwerse if they wanted to attack the mountain peoples and the men of the northern iceplains. This whole large network of fortresses were then manned by allied containments from different tribes and by law so were it forbidden to fight in them amongst the defenders despite what happened amongst the tribes that the defenders were chosen from. In the case of war so were the tribes nearby obligated to bring their entire forces to the field and then challenge the invaders in the field.

But this was not all that happened as the northern culture also florished as laws were written down on large massive rune stones with the first incarnations of the Scanderan runic languages.
