The Premier of Rwizikuru (Rwizi: Mutungamiri weRwizikuru) is the head of government of Rwizikuru, established under the new Rwizikuran constitution to supersede the Basic Law of Rwizikuru which described Rwizikuru as an absolute monarchy. It is the equivalent to the position of Prime Minister in other countries.

The first holder, as well as the current holder of the position, is Tsuru Mawere, who was elected on 3 April, 2020 to the National Assembly, and then was elected on 7 April, 2020, to become the first Premier.

Etymology

The term Mutungamiri is a Rwizi term meaning regent, suggesting that the term was used to describe regents of rulers of the Rwizi Empire who for whatever reason were unable to properly exercise their duties. However, in Estmerish, the term Premier is used.

In the new constitution of Rwizikuru, the term was adopted to describe the role of the head of government, as all day-to-day governance powers of the King were to be transferred to the Premier. The term was chosen instead of Prime Minister, as the latter term was seen as being "too deeply intertwined with the history of colonialism" in Bahia and the Asterias, and that using a native Rwizi term for their head of government would help Rwizikuru stand out on the world stage.

Official residence

State visit at the Old Palace Museum, 2008

As government offices for the Premier and the reconstituted National Assembly are still under construction in Guta raMambo, the Premier will be living at the private suites at the former Royal Palace in Port Fitzhubert, with the Premier to work in offices at the old National Assembly building in Port Fitzhubert, until the completion of the government buildings in Guta raMambo.

The planned official residence in Guta raMambo is planned to be a "modestly-sized" house designed to accomodate the Premier and his family, with the workspace of the Premier to be located inside the new National Assembly building.
