The Princess Victoria's Taoyuanese Rifles (Taoyuanese: 維多利亞公主的桃園步槍) is a reserve infantry regiment of the Rubrumian Army of the Rubrumian Armed Forces. Formed in 1935, it was named for Princess Victoria of Grendale, the daughter of the Governor-General of Rubrum. Presently, the regiment is consisted of 4 battalions with a total strength of 3,250 troops.
The creation came largely during a large influx of Taoyuanese immigrants and refugees who fled from Taoyuan during the Invasion of Aurucolian Formosa. At that time, the Rubrumian Army was building up its forces in the event of another world war. As such, many Taoyuanese refugees and their familes were given a chance at citizenship if at least one or two of their family members were to enlist in the Rubrumian Army. Until 1935, Taoyuanese troops were often mixed with Rubrumian units and the problem came with communication as many could not speak english. Eventually, it was decided that in 1935, a regiment of Taoyuanese soldiers was to be created. The Governor-General at that time supported the idea of a pure Taoyuanese regiment within the army as it would also gain the trust of the Taoyuanese government, in effect would gain new allies. The new regiment was named after the Governor-General's daughter and was mobilised as a light infantry formation with the idea of getting close to destroy and outflank the enemy. Later on, the regiment was joined by English-speaking Taoyuanese-Rubrumian personnel.
When the Second Europan War erupted, the PVTR was sent to the Europan Theatre Campaign, later to the Scandinavian Campaign before ultimately being folded into the 7th Rubrumian Division to fight in the Middle East Campaign in 1939 as part of the Second Erebonian and Rubrumian Imperial Force. In the first years of the 2nd ERUIF's deployment, the regiment was kept in reserve until in 1942, when they received their first action. The PVTR largely became responsible for several thrusts against Imperial forces during the Battle of Mazahr-Sharif, Operation Black Spear and Operation LX. The regiment's finest hour came during the Battle of Runikhata and in the Manas River Offensive, where the regiment found itself outgunned and resolved to charge towards the enemy in an attempt to force enemy positions out using bayonet and dadao charges.
Although the PVTR suffered the highest number of casualties than any Rubrumian regiment in the Middle East and in Asianna, they also received the most number of Georgius Crosses, Conspicuous Gallantry Crosses, and the Distinguished Service Cross. This led to the regiment being called as The Georgius Cross Regiment.
