The 1978 World Cup, also called the 1978 Tyrnatini World Cup, was an international football tournament contested by men's national teams which took place between 9 April to 16 April, 1978 in Tregueux, Zamastan. It was the sixth World Cup, a worldwide football tournament held once every year. The tournament phase involved 32 teams, of which all came through qualifying competitions at the start of the event from an original 64 national teams. At the time, it was one of the most watched sporting events in the history of the world.
