The Anikatian Air Force is the aerial warfare service branch of the Anikatian National Defense Force. Anikatian Air Force headquarters is located in the city of Ulryak. The Anikatian Navy has its own air arm, the Anikatian Naval Aviation.
History
The Anikatian Air Force was established on May 17, 1951, seventeen days after the formal independence was given to the nation of Anikatia. The new Air Force inherited the 1st Guards Fighter Bomber Aviation Division of BAU-47 'Caracara' which were based at Namju.
Organization
The Anikatian Air Forces consist of units formerly part of the 35th Air Army of the Belfrasian Military District headquartered at Buchyeon. There are two remaining combat units, brigades at Namju and Ulryak. The 55th Separate Brigade is the former 73th Bomber Aviation Regiment combined with the former 8th Separate Reconnaissance Aviation Regiment.
Plans
In 2009, the AAF was planning to restructure in an effort to improve efficiency. Moreover, Anikatia is planning to put more advanced jet aircraft into service in upcoming years. Anikatia is taking bold steps to create a new combat aircraft under the Anikatian led international Aymovski Ay-105 fifth generation fighter family program, along with the domestically produced Myeong and Lyang MyL-23 stealth fighters.
