The Quasi-War, also known as the Glytteronian Civil War and the Insurgencies, was a series of insurgencies led by paramilitary groups resisting the Federation's occupation of Glytter throughout the Great War. It was fought mainly between the Glytteronian government, which was backed by the Federation of Asteria, and the Sons and Daughters of Liberty, Ghaillish League, and the United Glytteronian Front. The Quasi-War lasted from December of 1928 to February of 1935, and ended upon the withdrawal of the Federation's forcing, marking the end of the Occupation of Glytter and the Great War. Extensive foreign involvement was rather limited, as the Federation had completely occupied the country for the entire duration of the conflict.

While resistance against the Asterian occupation did exist, it was initially peaceful. Civilian protests outside of Federation military bases, checkpoints, and the Federation's embassy in Spálgleann. On 17 December 1928 a group of protesters had gathered near an Federation military checkpoint in the western city of Snarksburgh. Approximately 15 minutes after they had gathered, they were fired upon by the Asterian soldiers. The incident became known as the Snarksburgh Massacre and historians often consider it to be the start of the insurgency against the government and the Federation's forces, and in turn the Quasi-War. It was the night of 17 December that the Sons and Daughters of Liberty was established in Invertwinc. The de facto political leader of the group was Eleanore Rosaiteir while Peadar Ó Faoláin acted as the head of the paramilitary wing. Their first attack came nearly a week later and was on an Asterian supply train between Bulfwast and the capital, sabotaging the tracks resulting in its derailment. Similar efforts were soon mirrored by the two other insurgent groups: the fascistic Ghaillish League and the communist United Glytteronian Front.

The situation worsened following the Battle of Glytter and the destruction of the Federations' Vehemens Fleet. There were nearly 500 civilian causalities, many of which were Ghailles. Many of the insurgent leaders blamed the Federation for their attack, claiming it was the inevitable result of their violation of Glytteronian sovereignty and their decision to move to Vehemens Fleet to Caipitilbonn. The Ghaillish League began an insurgency in the Highlands towards the end of spring, finding strong support in the traditionally Solarian Cathoic region. The Glytteronian Army was quick to respond, with the help of the Federation. The fascist insurgents employed guerrilla warfare, often fighting from village to village and taking advantage of the Highland's mountainous terrain. Meanwhile, the United Glytteronian Front stated a series of attacks on both government and Federation targets, attacking infrastructure as well as assassinating government and military officials. The Sons and Daughters of Liberty, unique in their both political and paramilitary approach, acted mainly in the capital and the cities of Gayneva and Invertwinc.

1931 is often considered the peak of the Quasi-War. The communists, encouraged by growing numbers, decided to seize the Royal Post Office in Spálgleann. On 26 April 1931, General-Secretary Molly Reynolds, the head of the UGF, declared the Glytteronian People's Republic with the Royal Post Office acting as its headquarters. Fearful of a potential communist revolution, the Federation chose to siege the post office. For the next two days, Asterian soldiers shelled the post office. The Royal Post Office, along with much of Seamus Street, was utterly destroyed. Reynolds was killed in the siege, and her deputy captured and executed by the Asterians. The siege resulted in the collapse of the UDF's chain of command, and the group was effectively dissolved. Two months later in June of that year the Ghaillish League, hoping to take advantage of the situation, attempted to assassinate Taoiseach Éamon Ua Buachalla and his cabinet. The attack, known as the Carrowdun Bombing, ultimately failed but did result in the deaths of two low level cabinet officials. Simultaneously, a series of attacks across the Caldish Isles was launched by the fascists against government and Federation targets. As a result, the Federation pressured the Ua Buachalla government to suspend the 1932 Comhthionól Náisiúnta elections, which it reluctantly agreed to. In response, the Sons and Daughters of Liberty launched a renewed insurgency against Asterian supply lines and military checkpoints.

Three years later the Ghaillish League would too collapse following the Saint Cuchulain's Day Raid on their headquarters in Fraoch. The leader of the movement, James Connolly was captured and put on trial. He was found guilty of treason and was sentenced to life in prison, something that disappointed the Asterian military. This just left the SDL as the only resistance group, which would continue to stage attacks on the Federation until their eventual withdrawal on 12 February 1935.

The insurgencies have had a lasting effect on the country. Due to their compliance, the Glytter Democrats were devastated during the 1937 Comhthionól Náisiúnta elections. Eleanore Rosaiteir, as leader of the Liberty Party would become Taoiseach of Glytter. The aftermath of the Quasi-War still continues to strain relations between the Federation and Glytter today, as many within the country do not forget the actions taken by the Federation against what was initially a peaceful movement. Likewise, the undermining of Glytteronian national sovereignty and the interference with free elections remains a touchy topic with many older Glytteronians.
