While there were many capital cities of smaller entities throughout Zhenian history, only five cities are formally recognized as historical capitals of Zhenia (Zhenian: 진국사 오대고도), both in history and by the Government of the Republic of Zhenia. The five are Daedo, Namgyeong, Junggyeong, Seogyeong and Sanggyeong respectively.

- Daedo (Classic Zhenian: 大都, Zhenian: 대도, meaning 'Greater Capital')
- Junggyeong (Classic Zhenian: 中京, Zhenian: 중경, meaning 'Central Capital')
- Namgyeong (Classic Zhenian: 南京, Zhenian: 남경, meaning 'Southern Capital')
- Sanggyeong (Classic Zhenian: 上京, Zhenian: 상경, meaning 'Northern Capital')
- Seogyeong (Classic Zhenian: 西京, Zhenian: 서경, meaning 'Western Capital')
