The Government of Syara (Syara: Владата на Сијара), formally the Government of the Commonality of Syara is the executive branch of government in Syara. The affairs of the government are decided by the Cabinet of Ministers, led by the Executive of Syara, who is voted into office by the High Council of Syara. The Cabinet is housed within the Citadel, located in the capital city of Zovahr.

Role

According to the Commonality Constitution, the Syaran Government is charged with:

  • Developing national and foreign policy
  • Executing and enforcing the laws passed by the High Council
  • Directs and coordinates actions of the Government Ministries in accordance with their roles
  • Reports to the High Council regarding the state of the Commonality
  • Enforces the rulings of the National Tribunal
  • Performs additional duties as outlined by the Constitution and the High Council

Cabinet and Ministries

The Cabinet of Ministers is the primary agency of the Government, led by the Executive. The Executive is elected by the High Council and is usually the selected candidate of the ruling party in the High Council. Once elected, the Executive must appoint a cabinet, which is vetted and approved by the High Council. Including the Executive and the Chief Cabinet Secretary, the Cabinet consists of 22 individuals. The current Executive is Anita Beleska, voted into office in July 2020 and assuming office on 1 August 2020. Her cabinet was officially approved on 1 August as well.

After the Executive, the Cabinet consists of four Senior Ministers, who oversee the following Ministries, and act as the line of succession after the Executive:

  • Ministry of Internal Affairs
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Ministry of Administration
  • Ministry of Finance

The rest of the cabinet is composed of the rest of the government ministries:

  • Ministry of Defense

  • Ministry of Faith
  • Ministry of Ecology

Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is led by the Senior Minister of Internal Affairs, who is second in the line of succession for Syara's national leadership after the Executive. Internal Affairs oversees Syara's elections, emergency management and response, public affairs, telecommunications, and immigration. The Ministry of Internal Affairs works closely with the Ministries of Administration, Security, and Justice.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tasked with carrying out diplomacy and international relations with the rest of the world. The Ministry is led by the Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs (commonly just called the Foreign Affairs Minister), who is third in the line of succession for Syara's national leadership. The Ministry also is responsible for the oversight of Syaran embassies and ambassadors in foreign nations.

Ministry of Administration

The Ministry of Administration is responsible for the oversight of Syara's Realms, publications of government decrees and directives, taxation services, postal services, and general care for the agencies and departments of Syara's government. The Ministry is closely associated with the civil service, and the Administration Minister is fifth in the line of succession.

Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance is tasked with government finances, the national budget, and financial regulations. The Ministry also oversees the minting of Syara's currency and the regulations that govern its use. The Senior Minister of Finance is fourth in the line of succession.

Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture oversees Syara's agriculture industry and farming. It also governs regulations concerning crop rotation, food pricing, and agricultural subsidies.

Ministry of Defense

The Ministry of Defense oversees the administration of the Syaran Commonality Armed Forces, and veteran affairs.

Ministry of Security

The Ministry of Security is responsible for the policing and guarding of Syara borders, oversight of national law enforcement, anti-terrorism activities, and the Syaran coast guard. It is a separate and distinct legal entity from the Ministry of Defense and Justice.

Ministry of Faith

The Ministry of Faith is responsible for the service and promotion of Syara's national religion, Zobethos. The Ministry of Faith presides over the protection and care of Syaran holy sites and temples and maintains the Sacred Guard while helping to promote religious festivals and holidays.

Ministry of Ecology

The Ministry of Ecology serves as Syara's environmental agency, enforcing regulations regarding wildlife preservation and environmental protection. The Ministry also is responsible for Syara's national parks, forests, campgrounds, and pollution prevention.

Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education oversees Syara's national and public education from pre-school to higher education and state universities. The Ministry also provides oversight for educational curriculum and literacy programs.

Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice handles administration of justice within Syara. The Ministry is responsible for organizing the justice system, public prosecution, national investigations, and maintaining the legal system. The Ministry of Justice cooperates closely with the Ministry of Security, but the two remain distinct and separate legal entities.

Ministry of Economics

The Ministry of Economics is responsible for oversight of Syara's economy. The Ministry is responsible for the drafting and implementation of economic policy, and the evaluation of Syaran economic productivity and progress.

Ministry of Labor

The Ministry of Labor is responsible for setting national labor standards, creating the mechanisms for which to settle labor disputes, drafting employment policy and protocol, and social security.

Ministry of Sanitation

The Ministry of Sanitation is responsible for the promotion of public health, the maintenance of public works and utilities such as clean drinking water, waste management, and recycling programs.

Ministry of Energy

The Ministry of Energy oversees the production and distribution of energy sources, namely fuel and electricity. The Ministry also conducts research into renewable energy sources.

Ministry of Recreation

The Ministry of Recreation is responsible for the promotion of youth activity, sports, fitness, and clubs.

Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture is responsible for the promotion of tourism, the arts, and the national archives. The Ministry also manages the protection of historical sites, financing artists and art institutions, and public museums and galleries.

Ministry of Industry

The Ministry of Industry oversees Syara's domestic manufacturing. The Ministry is responsible for setting business regulations regarding corporate behaviors and mergers, creating policy regarding lobbying and corporate subsidies, and managing Syara's state owned industries.

Ministry of Commerce

The Ministry of Commerce is responsible for international trade and commercial regulation. The Ministry also deals with tariffs and protectionist policy.

Ministry of Infrastructure

The Ministry of Infrastructure is responsible for the nation's road networks, highways, railways, airports, and port facilities. The Ministry also coordinate heavily with the Ministry of Industry and Energy to handle the nation's power grid, transportation policy, and hydroelectric dams.
