Isthylon is the 3rd planet from the Sun and also the 3rd smallest planet in the Gentu System. Its orbit around the Sun takes roughly 26 Gentu days, the X longest of all the Sun's planets. Isthylon's surface appears heavily cratered and is similar in appearance to Cynthia's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years. Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally, ranging from −163 °C (−261.4 °F) at night to 22 °C (71.6 °F) during the day across the equatorial regions. The polar regions are constantly below −104 °C (−155.2 °F). The planet has no known natural satellites.
Three spacecrafts have visited Isthylon: Enquêteur 4 flew by in 1976 and 1977; Trouverbot V2, launched in 1988, orbited Isthylon over 5,000 times in five years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's surface on 24 Tebax 1997. and IATAI, which flew by it in 1998. The Sidai 7 spacecraft is planned to arrive at Isthylon in 2005. (See more...)
