The Ossorian Armed Forces (Ossorian Gaelic: Fórsaí Armtha na hOsraí), are the military forces responsible for the defense of the High Kingdom of Ossoria, its overseas territories and dependencies. They also promote the Realm's wider interests, support international peacekeeping efforts and provide humanitarian aid to disaster areas.
Today, the Ossorian Armed Forces consist of: the Royal Ossorian Navy, a blue-water navy with a fleet of over 300 commissioned ships; the Royal Ossorian Army, which serves as the primary land warfare branch; the Royal Ossorian Air Force, an technologically sophisticated air force with a diverse operational fleet of both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft; the Royal Ossorian Marine Corps, a highly trained amphibious infantry force; the Royal Ossorian Coast Guard, a multi-mission maritime security force with a fleet of 70 commissioned ships; and the Royal Ossorian Defense Force, which protects the Realm from strategic threats. The Ossorian Royal Guard functions as an independent arm of the Royal Army tasked with the security of the capital and the safety of the Royal Family. The Ossorian Armed Forces additionally include the Ready Reserves, Volunteer Reserves and General Reserves.
The Ossorian Home Guard, the self-defense forces organized by the Constituent Kingdoms and Dominions of Ossoria, are not considered to be a part of the Ossorian Armed Forces, though there are provisions for bringing these units under Federal control during times of war or crisis.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces is the Monarch of Ossoria, currently High Queen Tara Ní Sionán, to whom all service members swear allegiance. The Armed Forces are individually managed by their respective administrative apparatuses: the Admiralty for the Navy; the Army Ministry for the Army and Royal Guard; the Air Ministry for the Air Force and Defense Force; and collectively by the Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Privy Council, chaired by the Chairman of the Committee.
Ossoria is one of the recognized Tyrannic Great Powers, being one of the recognized nuclear powers, the host nation of the Organization of Tyrannic Nations and one of the five permanent members of the OTN Security Council, and is a founding and leading member of the Gabhrán Accords military and economic alliance. The Realm maintains overseas bases and training facilities in Acrea, Allamunnika, Delkora, Gylias, Mansuriyyah, Nordkrusen, and West Aotearoa.
