The Republic of Nonadia, commonly known as Nonadia, is a sovereign nation located on the continent of Vesperia, it contains 20 states and the federal district of Monrovia. The borders of Nonadia span 3,195,208 square kilometers and control over 280 million people. The capital of Nonadia is Monrovia, located in the southwestern region of the nation, and is also the largest city in Nonadia. Nonadia is bodered by Sodor to the north and Laurentiea to the east, and has maritime borders with Eldamar to the northwest. Nonadia is part of both the Southern Defense Confederation and the Vesperian Union. It also participates in the global League of Nations.

Nonadia is primarily within a humid continental climate, with mostly temperate forests in the east followed by plains and desert which are separated by a mountain range which that the west-central of the nation. The highest point in Nonadia is Hannowah Mountain which is located within the Great Marble Mountains. These mountains created a natural barrier between Nonadia and the rest of Vesperia, and the first peoples arrived in Nonadia around 2,500 years ago. There is no evidence of permanent settlements in Nonadia until the 9th century AD when the Lakotah and Germanic peoples settled the humid and arable land of the southeast. Eastern Nonadia was first civlized by the Gorans in the 15th century, where they began importing humans to settle and build upon the land.

Goran Nonadia quickly expanded as the land was prime for human settlement and easy to build on. The Lakotah were kicked into Laurentiea as the Gorans began to settle the southeast and build advanced crop and animal farms. As Nonadia quickly boomed in population and economy, the colony soon became the lifeblood of the Goran Empire. Nonadia quickly became restless as they became larger and remained under foreign rule, culminating into an agreement of separation between Nonadia and Gorania. Following independence, Nonadia expanded across the Marble Mountains and into the Lancaster desert, reaching its current territorial extent. The nation remained isolated from the rest of the international community and outside of trade did not communicate with foreign nations until 2003.

Etymology

The origins of "Nonadia" are mostly unknown, it is believed to mean 'Land of the Nons' in an ancient version of Grandian, and what 'Nons' means is unclear. The name did not see use until the Gorans settled the land around Monrovia and began to call it Goran Nonadia. While the name itself was only referring to the land around the Monrovian valley, the name became synonymous with the colony and the name was recognized as the official name for the territory.
