Leszeskie Zakłady Silnikowe s.a., usually known under its abbreviation LZS, is a Nikolian luxury automobile, motorcycle and engine manufacturer founded in 1915 in Katovice, Nikolia. LZS is one of the largest companies in Nikolia and owns other automotive brands like Ladybird and <name>.
History
LZS was founded in Leszka in 1915 as a motorcycle manufacturer. With the outbreak of the Great Astyrian War, LZS was contracted to build aircraft engines for the Nikolian military. Their first product was the LZS Type Ia, a straight-six engine which powered the <name> fighter aircraft. LZS continued to build aircraft engines after the Great Astyrian War ended, as well as resumed production of motorcycles.
The company began producing automobiles in 1931, debuting their first car called the LZS PWN-1. Over the next several years, LZS expanded its range to include sports cars and luxury cars, as well as received contracts from the Nikolian Army for military vehicles.
In the 1950s, LZS was in a financial crisis. Contracts from the Nikolian military began to dry up and the aircraft engine division was operating at a huge loss. In 1957, it was announced that LZS would no longer be manufacturing aircraft engines, instead focusing fully on civilian automobiles and motorcycles. Despite this decision, LZS continued to be at serious risk of closing down altogether. The success of the LZS < name > helped recover the company's finances and provided them with enough capital to develop better automotive products.
The LZS < name > debuted in 1962 to great sales success, establishing the brand's reputation as a manufacturer of sporty luxury cars. More models were added to the lineup throughout the remainder of the 1960s and 1970s as the company expanded in international markets. The current LZS model lineup was first established with the introduction of the E mid-size sedan in 1972 to replace the < name >. This was followed by the C compact sedan in 1974 and F full-size luxury sedan in 1978.
LZS Motorsport was created in 1977 and introduced the < name > in 1978, LZS's first mid-engined supercar. They then produced performance versions of base LZS models such as the E2R in 1983 and the C2R in 1985. In 1986, LZS debuted the F250b, its first V12-powered car, followed by the Z1 in 1990, their first roadster since the 1950s. LZS debuted their first SUV, the T50, in 1998.

Company name and logo
Leszkan Motor Works is the official English translation for Leszeskie Zakłady Silnikowe and is sometimes used in English publications. However, the abbreviation LMW is never used, as LZS uses the original Mazurian name as the basis for its abbreviation.
The term "Lizzie" is sometimes used as slang for LZS vehicles in the English language.
LZS's logo originates from the coat of arms of Leszka, where the company's original factory was established.

LZS Motorsport is the subsidiary of LZS responsible for motorsport-related activities, including their factory racing programs across various disciplines, and for manufacturing high-performance versions of standard LZS models under the R badge. LZS has a long and successful history in different motorsport categories, with success in Astyrian Formula One, endurance racing, motorcycle racing, and touring car racing.
The LZS C2R holds the distinction of being LZS's most successful race car, winning more races than any other LZS production-based race car in history. It saw tremendous success in the Astyrian Touring Car Championship, Nikolian Touring Car Championship, Valkean Touring Car Championship, and several other racing series.
