Elijah Marcus Daniels (born January 18, 1951) is a Zamastanian politician and activist who served as the 32nd President of Zamastan from 1986 until 1990. He beat the incumbant president, Josiah Elliott, at the height of the coalition-led conflict in Vulkaria, and was instrumental in ending the war and withdrawing Zamastanian forces. He was the second black person to be elected President after Tomias Hapson, and is the only member of the Progressive Party to have ever been elected President. During his time in office, he created a national energy policy that included conservation, price control, and new technology. On the economic front, he confronted stagflation, a persistent combination of high inflation, high unemployment and slow growth. His reaction to the Treviso Nuclear Crisis in West Chanchajilla is credited with preventing a nuclear showdown between communist and capitalist governments after the collapse of the Beleroskov-Yuan bloc.
Prior to the presidency, he was a teacher at a public school in Tofino and a prominent education-reform and criminal justice activist.
