Notable Imperial Court Cases (Averius)

There have been a number of court cases seen by the Imperial Court of the Third Empire of Averius.

Cases

In case designations:

• A: Designates an APPEAL.
• E: Designates an ELECTION-related case such as alleged criminal activity regarding candidates or the election process which may change or otherwise impact a pending, ongoing, or recently-concluded election.
• F: Designates an Armed FORCES-related case involving an appeal of a decision by a military court or tribunal.
• L: Designates an LAWSUIT against any Ministry, Government Office, or Official in regards to various laws, regulations, decrees, or government-sanctioned actions.
• M: Designates a MINISTRY-related case where a Ministry or the Crown charges a person, group, or business of a violation of law, regulation, or Decree.
• N: Designates an lawsuit against a NOBLE, including the Emperor. This includes any action, decree, transgression, or other situation civil or criminal, whether government sanctioned, or not.
• T: Designates a case against a person charged with TREASON.

819-5A	Sarah Dyke v. Crown	Claim Denied	Sarah Dyke sued the government to allow her abortion under the principal of 'bodily autonomy'. The Court sided with the Crown, stating "Bodily autonomy does not extend from the mother to a fetus." The Imperial Court also cited the Charter's prohibition on slavery in denying her claim.
819-7L	Robert Mason v. Ministry of Labor	Claim Denied	Robert Mason is an indentured servant due to unpaid debts. Robert Mason sued alleging the practice of indentured servitude counts as slavery. The court ruled that indentured servitude does not meet the definition of slavery as it does not count as 'forced involuntary servitude or ownership'.
819-10M	Ministry of Commerce v. Fred's Farm	Guilty	The Ministry of Commerce has brought legal action against the private company Fred's Farm, for the charge of 'Agricultural Price Manipulation', 'Securities Fraud', and 'Tax Fraud'. Lower Courts have ruled against Fred's Farm. The Imperial Court agreed with the lower courts' determination, but has changed the judgement. For the crimes committed, all property and assets of Fred's Farm shall be surrendered to the Ministry of Commerce to resell the assets and property. The owners and high-up officials of Fred's Farm were saddled with heavy tax and financial penalties and the owners had to sign a indentured servitude contract to pay back the debts that could not be recovered.
