Since its independence, Daobac has pursued a "free and active" philosphy as its overarching guide in foreign policy, as a result, Daobac maintains friendly relations with its immediate neighbors, members of the Association of Ozeros Nations and the rest of the wider global community. The country is a strong advocate of Ozerosi & Kayatman regionalism and stability, and to achieve these ends plays an active role within the AON. Daobac works closely with its regional neighbors and supports various initiatives that promotes security, stability and unity within its immediate region. The country is well known for its expertise in the fields of environmental, aerospace and chemical, allowing to export key technologies easily due to its strategic geographic position at the Kayatman archipelago. Due to geographic reasons, friendly relations with both Kajera and Pulau Keramat are considered paramount. At the same time however the country also maintain good diplomatic relations with other powers such as Tsurushima, Belfras and Onekawa-Nukanoa. In the modern era and through the Daobac Space Corporation (DSC) and the country's membership in the International Aeronautical Union (IAU), Daobac has been able to effectively enlarge its importance among the international community. Daobac also hosts the headquarters of the IAU, located in its capital city of Congvat.

History
- Historically the two nations share a common language and heritage as the territories of Sonha were previously settled by the Daoan Conclave between 200 CE until the 11th century.
- When the Daoan Conclave was incorporated by the Tahamajan Empire, its holdings in the Ochran mainland were stripped away from the Conclave and administered directly by the Tahamajans.
- Post-Tahamaja's collapse in th 14th century the Shenzou Empire, taking advantage of the chaos and uncertainty of the era, quickly moved to annex the Conclave's previous holdings along Ochran's southern coast.
- The briefly re-established Second Daoan Conclave laid claim to its holdings but were unable to take any action to reassert control as they were preoccupied with a rapidly growing conflict with the Kajerans who also wished to conquer the the entirety of the Kayatman archipelago.
- Placed under two different overlords, the Daoans developed slight variations in their language and cultural practices throughout the centuries
- During the First and Second Cross-Strait Wars the Trong Dynasty, a tributary Daoan state of the Shen, contributed forces to the Shen invasions though ultimately failed to subjugate Daobac.
- Daobac's intelligence agency, the Office of Naval Intelligence, has allegedly carried out clandestine operations within Sonha in the hopes of inciting a regime change that would be more amicable to Daoan interests and sovereignty.
- Combined with Sonhan ambitions to annex the Yunxian exclave of Nangang where Daobac has vested economic interests, has been a source of friction between the two nations.
- In the modern era both Daobac and Sonha lay claim to be the original continuation of the Daoan Conclave, although only Sonha has laid territorial claim to the islands of Bautroi and Dammay which are under the defacto control of Daobac.
