The Jedorian Federal Forces (Jedorian: Federālie Spēki) are the armed forces of Jedoria, established after the Jedorian Civil War. The Jedorian Federal Forces were formerly established in 2008 by decree of Archon Valgudis Krievs, composed primarily of former members of the Combine Rebels. The Federal Forces supreme headquarters is known collectively as Central Command, and oversees the four main branches, the Federal Guard, the Federal Air Force, the Federal Naval Forces, and the Federal Auxiliary Forces. Although they do not consider themselves the descendants of the Jedorian People's Army or the Royal Confederate Army, the Federal Forces inherited most of their arsenal from the JPA and much of their rank structure and organization from the RCA. At 1,870,000 personnel in uniform, the Federal Forces are the largest armed forces in Vinya if reserve personnel are included.
History
The Federal Forces were officially established on 17 May 2008, which is celebrated as it's foundation holiday ever year. At its inception, much of the Federal Forces were composed of former Combine Rebels, and former soldiers and officers of the Jedorian People's Army were prohibited from serving. This was changed in 2011, after which former JPA members were allowed to serve, with officers able to resume their commission as part of the Federal Forces. It is estimated that well over half of Jedorian senior officers are former commanders of the JPA, while enlisted personnel tend to overwhelmingly be former rebels, or entered service after the Jedorian Civil War.
When established, the National Defense Bureau maintained that the Federal Forces would not be considered the successors of the Jedorian People's Army, but nevertheless the Federal Forces found themselves in possession of large quantities of military hardware and equipment left over from the Socialist Republic. After four years of civil war however, much of Jedoria's military infrastructure had been destroyed or heavily damaged. Furthermore, much of the Federal Forces arsenal consisted of remnants of the JPA, which while numeric consisted largely of antiquated and dated systems and equipment. A 2010 report published by the Defense Bureau stated that the Federal Forces possessed nearly 14,000 tanks, 30,000 infantry fighting vehicles and personnel carriers, 18,000 artillery pieces and nearly 2,000 aircraft; however very little of it was in proper working condition and even less would be considered modern and effective. Between 2011-2015 Jedoria scrapped or sold 7,155 tanks, 18,620 armored fighting vehicles, 11,306 artillery pieces, 1,681 aircraft, and 144 surface vessels and submarines.
In 2016 Director of National Defense Romas Kukta outlined the role of the Federal Forces as "defense of our soil and sovereignty" and stated that the Federal Forces would focus on modernization and standardization to meet new challenges, along with abandoning Socialist Era doctrine and organization in favor of replicating the success of the major powers of Septentrion. In 2018 however Archon Jaan Kask stated that the core of Jedorian military forces would remain focused on the "combined institutional knowledge base that has been built and modified for the past several decades". In 2017 Jedoria and Letnia agreed to a arms deal which included the Letnian delivery of several squadrons worth of modern fighter aircraft, in addition to assistance with modernizing Jedorian ground forces and their equipment.
The Federal Forces played a major part in the 2019 Invasion of Vyzhva, forming the largest single nation contingent. According to the Defense Bureau, nearly 400,000 Jedorian military personnel took part in the invasion.
