Palanca (/pa'la:ŋkə/; Teru: பழங்கள் Paḻaṅkaḷ), officially the Republic of Palanca (Teru: பழங்கள் குடியரசு Paḻaṅkaḷ Kuṭiyaracu), is an island country in western X, located in the X to the west of the X and north-east of the X. The sovereign state is comprised of a small archipelago centered around the name-giving island of Pelanca, geographically separated from the X continent by the Gulf of X and the X Strait. Palanca has no land boundaries, and only one maritime border with its closest neighbour, X. It is 35,718 square kilometres (13,790 sq mi) in size, making it the Xth-smallest nation in X. As of 2014, Palanca counts a population of 14,266,104 inhabitants, including around 790,000 non-nationals and expratriates; one third of the entire population lives in the capital and largest city of the country, Nakaram.
