The Mutungamiri of Rwizikuru (weRwizi: Mutungamiri weRwizikuru) is the head of government of Rwizikuru, established under the new Rwizikuran constitution to supersede the Basic Law of Rwizikuru which described Rwizikuru as an absolute monarchy.
Etymology
The term Mutungamiri is a weRwizi term meaning regent, suggesting that the term was used to describe regents of rulers of the veRwizi Empire who for whatever reason were unable to properly exercise their duties.
In the new constitution of Rwizikuru, the term was adopted to describe the role of the head of government, as all day-to-day governance powers of the Mambo were to be transferred to the Mutungamiri.
