Federal heraldry is based on the original Imerian heraldry that arose amongst lardins in the middle of mellankhönunga tiden. Modern Imerian heraldry divides a bit from regular modern Anglo-Saxon one though as instead of the European styled shields that is often used in heraldry so does federal heraldry use Imerian knite and round shields. Imerian helmets are also known to replace crowns and coronets all the way up to the high king himself to reflect the Imerian martial spirit that is so bragged about by Scanderans. These helmets cannot according to tradition be used on their own but must accompany and be attached to your shield.

However while it is legal for anyone to carry their own arms so is the laws about such very strict and one may not wear a helmet or hat one does not deserve according to federal law and one could face legal punishment up to fines and a day in the pranger for misusing heraldic symbolism as it is considered a mild way of fraud.

To apply for a personal coat of arms so must one send an application to the royal heraldic office and be applied by a so called "Riks herald". All approved of seals are then kept in the federal archives where one can trace both house and personal heraldry back for at least several centuries. To get a personal coat of arms approved so must you be a federal subject, be 16 years of age, include your social security number, rank and the seal you desired, will riks heralden working with your heraldry find it inappropriate as a personal heraldry so will he send a message to the applicant with suggestions how to improve it but also informing him that his heraldry is not legal to be used in the federation.

Rules

The Imerian heraldry had several rules about heraldry as well to make it more clear ad easier to follow. Amongst other things does the earlier laws speak about rules against dividing divided fields and even mentioned eternal disshonour upon the man doing so. The same law also promised eternal defeat to the man that would make to complicated heraldry. Other rules forbade the use of proper backgrounds and limited the use of proper to just two charges and the rules against metal on metal or colour on colour. Interestingly enough so is the rule against colour on colour broken by the royal house and it is theorised that this was intentional to show that the royal family was above all.

Terms

Compared to English heraldry with names inspired by French heraldry so is Imerian heraldry rather easy to understand for Imerians as the names are simple and in the good old tongue. However so is fur very rare in Imerian heraldry compared to that of France or England.
