Legislative elections are scheduled to be held in the United Provinces of Alsland by 5 September 2022. All 201 members of the Folkssenaat will be up for election.

Background

The 2018 Alslandic legislative election was held after a 4-year coalition government led by Liveable Delland and involving Civic Initiative, Progressive Holsteen, the Social Democrats of Swerdia, the Party for Freedom and Democracy, Green - Alternative Choice and the Countryside and Agrarian Party. The coalition had lost it's majority prior to the election when the Countryside and Agrarian Party left the coalition over a proposed climate change bill. Following the election, despite the coalition coming close to winning a majority in the Folkssenaat but remained just shy of the 101 required seats to form a majority government.

After Civic Initiative threatened to leave coalition negotiations Premier Liekele Ykema resigned and was succeeded by the moderate Hepke Veltman. The Veltman cabinet was sworn in 6 months after the election when the Kirenian People's Party agreed to support the government. Hepke Veltman resigned in 2020 after being elected as President of Alsland. He was succeeded by Ottila Möller of Progressive Holsteen. The coalition gained additional seats in 2021 when the eco-conservative Community 2000 party merged with the Green Party.

Electoral system

All 201 Senators are members of 8 constituencies which represent each Province of Alsland. Senators are elected using the Party-list proportional representation, using the Boeri method.

Following the 2022 Burnshire referendum, Burnshire is set to secede from Fawkhamshire and become it's own province and constituency. Burnshire will have 3 Senators.

The table below shows the distribution of Senators between the 9 constituencies of Alsland.
