The Empordian League (Empordian: Lliga Empordán), is a liberal and conservative political party that is active in the Pacitalian autonomous communities of Alt- and Baix-Empordà.
The party has a cooperation agreement with national centre-right parties to avoid competing for the same voters. Due to Pacitalia's use of instant-runoff voting, voter splits tended to allow left-wing parties to pick up large numbers of seats on second- and third-preference votes; the cooperation agreement with parties like the Federation of Progressive Democrats and Christian Democrats is intended to give the League the best chance to elect centrist and centre-right lawmakers to national and regional legislatures.
The League is officially centrist and tends to campaign on moderate policy positions, but it is a "big tent" party that is home to a wide range of liberal and conservative views. The party has ties to the Catholic church and to numerous business groups. It historically advocated for Empordian independence but has softened its position in recent years, instead supporting autonomy for Empordia and stronger protection of regional language and culture, and maintaining a good working relationship with national politicians in Timiocato in order to advance Empordian interests within the Pacitalian state.
The League is the smaller of the two main regional parties by membership and fundraising income (the PSE being the other party). It is currently the second-largest party on both regional councils in Empordia.
At the national level, the League was the junior partner in FPD-led coalition governments between 2011 and 2017 under Prime Ministers Archetenia Nera and Maurizio Conte.
Following the 2023 parliamentary elections, the party increased its share of seats in the Constazione and returned to the Senato Repubblicana after a three-year absence. The League's assembly in the Constazione is now the sixth-largest following the 2023 election, while in the Senato, the party has the fifth-largest caucus.
