Winter War

On the eve of the Winter War and the mass artillery bombardment by the Vozhsk Armed Forces on 14 December 2016, Marczinkowsky ordered her 14th Armoured Infantry Division to hold back the Vozhsk National Army's 6th Combined Arms Army thrust into Lyria. Marczinkowsky was pushed back at Battle of Arnswoude on 14 December 2016 in eastern Lyria by VNA Major General Mikhail Harun's 27th Vozhsk Infantry Division. Forced to retreat by General Harun to the town of Zwartendorf in the Reppelerholt region, Marczinkowsky began to fortify her position, awaiting reinforcement from Brigade General Sjeng Beyls's 39th Armoured Brigade. On 15 December, General Harun's forces arrived in the Reppelerholt, assaulting Marczinkowsky's forces in the region. For two days, Marczinkowsky held the Reppelerholt and the town of Zwartendorf. Managing to break General Harun's forces' momentum with an additional 87 Edelweiss 2s arrival with General Beyls's brigade. Along with a daring assault by the 4th Battalion, Regiment Koninklijke Stoottroepen who engaged in a vicious melee with VNA forces on Hill 287 near the village of Barbarka.

Chasing the routed forces of Harun to the town of Bielany on 18 December, Marczinkowsky was forced into a prolonged siege until 25 December. Setting into a prolonged siege, Marczinkowsky was reinforced by the 2nd Fusoese Marine Brigade and the 108 Commando's Mariniersbrigade on 21 December. Marczinkowsky placed her two Stoottroepen battalions and one Royal Marine commando battalion into her elite reserves. By 22 December, her northern flank was almost broken by Brigade General Syman Borushko's charge at Hill Z187; however the hill was held by the 2nd Battalion, Regiment Jagers Prinsesse Winter and C Company, 5th Fusoese Marines when Lieutenant Colonel Martien Krul ordered a bayonet charge on the VNA positions at the base of the hill.
