The 1980 Besmenian federal election were held in Besmenia on 3 August 1980, to elect the 16th Federal Chamber. The Free Besmenian Citizen's Party emerged as the largest faction in the Federal Chamber for the first time since 1952, with its leader Martin Beiter becoming Prime Minister.

Campaign

The 1980 election campaign was dominated by the feud between Beiter and Gleitzmann. Beiter criticized Gleitzmann's resistance to Besmenian's accession to the Coalition of Crown Albatross, while Gleitzmann criticized Beiter for being too young.
