The House of Hazarasp, more formally the Hazaraspid dynasty, was the ruling dynasty of Vardana and the Hazaraspid kingdom from 1323 until 1924 during the Vardanan Revolution.

The Hazaraspid dynasty arrived in what in Vardana in the 12th century, believed to originate from Chuya province, near the Chu River Valley in Uluujol. Hazarasp was the first member of the dynasty to reign as Armashahs (Արմասահս; lit. "Ruler of Armava" or Shah of Armavia) in the 14th century. The dynasty claims descent from a number of religiously significant or legendary figures, including [person] the legendary founder of ancient Aramvia, the final rulers of the Bayarid Empire and descendant of Ummār bint Mubashir, the son of the Prophet Mubashir.

The Hazaraspid dynasty and their kingdom was overthrown in 1924 during the Vardani Revolution, which resulted in the deaths of many dynasts. Kaysr Jorin Hazarasp is the current pretender to the abolished throne.

Line of succession to the Tiridantid claim

Under Hazarasp dynastic succession, the sultan must follow the Azdarin faith in order to hold succession rights. Until 1577, succession was primarily based upon the principle of survival of the fittest among sons of the king. In the reign of Tiridates I, succession practices were formalized to a modified male-only primogeniture, which later became male-only primogeniture whereby succession followed from father to eldest son, and so on until the reign of Tiridates V and the abolition of the monarchy in 1924. As a result of the male-only succession, females are barred from succession.

Jorin, Despot of Bayazet, was the second oldest, and only surviving, son of Sultan Tirdantes V. In his lifetime, Jorin was recognized as Kaysr and heir to the abolished throne. Today, Kaysr Jorin Hazarasp is the leader of the Crown Council of Vardana.

Head of the House of Hazarasp

Since the abolition of the monarchy in Vardana, the Hazaraspid dynasty has maintained a royal government in exile, headquartered in Ghish. The government in exile was established by Kaysr Jorin Hazarasp, following the execution of his older brother Tiridantes, and proclaimed himself heir to the throne. Despot Jorin was succeeded by his eldest son, Aram, Despot of Bayazet, as head of the House of Hazarasp in 1966. If Aram were to have succeeded to the throne, he would be one of the longest reigning monarch of Vardana at 54 years, as of January 2021, second only to Tirdantes I Hazarasp, who reigned for 60 years. Upon Aram's death in 2021, his son Jorin succeeded to the Head of the House; his heir apparent is his eldest son Ardil Hazarasp.
