Crown Princess Marie of Onneria is an Allamunnic athlete, socialite, and model. She is a member of the Onnerian Royal House of Heligsburg. She is the eldest child of King Theodurik IX of Onneria and his consort, Queen Caroline of Ghant. She is also an Ottonian professional football forward, playing for Royal Onneria FC.

Early Life & Education

Maria Karolina Izaaksunn was born to Theodurik IX of Onneria and Caroline of Ghant in the city of Onneria on March 28th, 1994. She was the couple's first child. She became a sister the following year with the birth of twins Aetius and Grace, and again two years after with the birth of her sister Ophelia.

Marie was sent to Academy of Colona in Colona, Onneria for primary school. At the completion of primary school, Marie matriculated to Roesburg Preparatory School in Roesburg, Innia, where she was educated along with a large number of other well-connected and wealthy Allamunnic youths including her second cousin Vitus.

Professional Athletic Career

Domestic Career

From a fairly early age Marie enjoyed playing soccer. Due to the advanced resources at her family's disposal, she was able to gain entry to the Onnerian Royal Academy of Football initially on a trial basis. With good coaching combined with a fair degree of natural athletic talent, Marie bloomed into a capable young player, competing as "Marie Izaaksunn", often colloquially referred to by peers as "Queen Marie" or "Queenie".

As Marie became a teenager, her interest hardened into a determination to play professionally. Although her parents were supportive of her interest, they were not without reservations, and her activities drew concern from members of the Ottonian aristocracy that professional athletics were not a proper pursuit for a princess, much less the heir to the Onnerian throne. It is possible that this concern was exacerbated by the generally working-class background of players and fans of association football.

Still, despite these concerns Marie's plans were unchanged, and in 2011 she made her senior debut on Royal Onneria's B squad, which played then (and now) in the Ottonian Second Division. Over the course of the 2011 - 2012 season Marie would make 28 appearances, initially as a substitute before stepping into a starting role as the season wore on. She finished with 10 goals in Second Division Competition, and the next year she was moved up to the main squad.

Marie made her First Division debut as a substitute in Royal Onneria's third game of the 2012 - 2013 season, and her role grew over that season and the ensuing three, in which she garnered 63 appearances, in which she scored 23 goals.

When Marie's initial contract with Royal Onneria ran out, rather than opting to re-sign, Marie was a free transfer to Thalassia FC in Vaalhulmspurt, expressing a desire to prove herself on a team with no connection to her home or family. She signed a 5-year, OFØ10 billion (USD$50.76 million) contract with Thalassia. Her two-year stint in Thalassia was by all accounts successful: she appeared in 64 games (out of a possible 68), scoring 9 and 11 goals in those two seasons.

Having made her point, she acceded to a transfer back to Royal Onneria in summer of 2017 at a transfer fee of OFØ3.2 billion (USD$16.24 million). When she returned, her contract was also extended an additional 3 years at a mean annual value of OFØ2.2 billion (USD$11.17 million). She rejoined the team for the 2017 - 2018 season of the First Division, and has played with the team ever since.

International Career

Leading up to the 2015 UAFA Ajax Cup, Marie was named to the Ottonian National Association Football Team. Marie had previously competed for the Under-20 section of the organization from 2010 to 2014. The team did not finish highly at the 2015 Cup, and Marie's off-field fame (or perhaps, notoriety) prompted cat-calls from spectators (especially in the match against Ghant), and an incident in which Ghantish player Damien Sturridge sought her out prior to the match and presented her with a blue rose, prompting jeers from the crowd.

Marie was with the team for the 2017 and 2019 editions of the tournament, as well.

Personal Life

Lineage

In addition to her place as the heir apparent to the throne of Onneria, Marie is also tied to other notable Allamunnic and Ajaxi families. Through her mother, Marie is a first cousin to Emperor Nathan IV of Ghant. She is also, through her paternal grandmother, Vikturya Romm, second cousin to Vitus of Staalmark.
