Lord Aetius of Onneria (born Aetius Honorius Theodurik Heligsburg on March 14th 1995) is a Ottonian aristocrat, businessman, and socialite. He is the second child of King Theodurik IX of Onneria and his consort Caroline of Ghant. He is a member of the princely House of Heligsburg, a cadet branch of the South Ottonian royal House of Sproek-Kristhulm. He is second-in-line to be Prince of Onneria, behind his elder sister Maria of Onneria.

Early Life

Aetius Honorius Theodurik Heligsburg was born to Caroline of Ghant and Theodurik of Onneria on March 14th, 1995 at St. Theodur Hospital in Onneria. He was the couple's second child, and was quickly followed by the third, hours later: his twin sister, Grace of Onneria. He and Grace were baptised on April 10th, 1995; his godparents were his paternal uncle, Junn of Onneria, and his cousin, Vikturya of Ottonia.

Like his sisters, Aetius received his primary schooling at the Academy of Colona in the Colona suburb of Onneria City. Aetius was noted to be a charming boy, but also a rambunctious and mischeivous one who had little in common with his quiet, studious twin. Although he seemed to have similar athletic gifts to his elder sister, he also lacked the focus and desire to cultivate the aptitude. By the time he was enrolled at Vylfhuld Academy in 2008 at the age of 13, Aetius had already cultivated a circle of friends.

Education

At Vylfhuld, Aetius played on the varsity lacrosse team, but was an unremarkable player due to what seemed to be lackluster effort. Similarly, his academic performance was competent, but unremarkable; here, as on the field, Aetius seemed content to get by on his natural talent, and generally uninclined to expend excessive effort in either field. Instead, the only endeavor that Aetius seemed to find worth his effort was the conquest of the social field at the Academy. The young man was apparently loath to be single at almost any point during his secondary schooling, although this was, at times, a double-edged sword; it did cause at least one of his schoolmates to later mention, in an unrelated interview, to call him "a little shit."

Despite his indifferent level of effort, Aetius' academic and extracurricular performance was enough, likely combined with familial prestige, to gain him entry to the prestigious Faeryn School of Business at the Royal University of Onneria in 2013.

Adulthood

During his third year of university, Aetius was admitted to the hospital during the fall. Leaks indicated that the young lord had been hospitalized with acute alcohol poisoning, with some observers who had seen him at a party the night before recounting that his life had been in peril. Although Aetius has refused to speak publicly about the incident, his behavior underwent a radical change following this brush with death. Although some of it is attributable to greater supervision from his family, the change appears to have been internally motivated; where prior to the incident Aetius was recklessly hedonistic and loathe to expend significant effort to anything but his social pursuits, after he showed a new focus on academics, as well as a greater propensity for religious involvement. Previously lax in his piousness, after 2016 he was noted to be significantly more observant.

This renewed focus helped Aetius graduate on-time in 2017, enabling an early start on his EMSBA degree, which he completed in 2020. Following this, he received an offer for a highly-placed role in the Jewel Group, which he accepted.

With the South Ottonian Revolution, the Jewel Group's business operations, especially its sizable real-estate holdings, were severely disrupted, and the Principality of Onneria that Aetius' family ruled hereditarily was functionally abolished. Following the flight to Draakur, Aetius was left at a crossroads, whether to settle in Draakur and aid the Royalist cause there, settle in Lihnidos with his wife, or follow his parents to Ghant.

Personal Life

Aetius is quite close with his elder sister, Marie, as well as his third cousin, Vitus. He and his twin, Grace have had a rocky relationship; the two were reputedly close as children, before growing apart in their teen years, reconciling in their early 20's, and then growing apart again around 2022 amid the background of the South Ottonian Revolution and the changes it wrought for their family.

In sports, Aetius is a fan of Royal Onneria FC, whose women's side his sister Marie plays for. In addition, he is an enthusiastic supporter of Thalassia HC, one of Onneria's two hockey clubs. He notably attended the 2016 World Ice Hockey Tournament, which was hosted in Onneria.

Additionally, the young lord is a rather pious adherent of the Honorian Rite of the Fabrian Catholic Church, a devoutness which only came after a near-death experience in 2016. There is some reason to think that Aetius' political views have been affected by this dive into piety, as he has since 2018 spoken frequently, if in passing, about divine right, Church social teaching, and societal mores. There is some reason to believe that he has donated some of his earnings from work to the Order of the Golden Lance, although this has not been confirmed.

Courtships

During his later years at Vylfhuld and his early college years, Aetius was popular tabloid fodder for his apparent frequent dalliances with the opposite sex. Among the most noteworthy was Ghantish noblewoman Taena Voor. Following his near-death experience in 2016, his behavior changed slightly in this regard, and Aetius seemed more focused on finding a partner after that point.

In 2016 at the World Ice Hockey Tournament, hosted in Onneria, Aetius apparently met the Lihnidosi Princess Anastasia of Thasos, a fellow hockey fan. [insert courtship details here]
