National anthem of  Lemovicia
LyricsLuka Barrategui, 1979
Musicunknown, traditional
Adopted1979

Aldamenean (meaning Side by side) is the national anthem of Lemovicia, adopted in 1992 to replace Otoitza.

History

The music is derived from a traditional Lemovician melody, used for many folk songs.

The lyrics were penned by Luka Barrategui and Lubomir Kucharczyk in 1992 on the urging of Otxote Sasimbarrena and Izydor Domzalski, who sought to replace Otoitza as the national anthem of Lemovicia in the Lemovician constitution.

With Barrategui taking inspiration from a traditional Lemovician folk song, and the recent adoption of the Alikianos Accords, he produced the Lemovician version of the song, while Kucharczyk produced the Miersan version. Both sought to have "near-identical translations" so that the same themes of peace and brotherhood can get across.

Following its completion, two copies of the song were sent to Domzalski and Sasiambarrena, each containing both versions. Both approved, and in the constitutional convention, Aldamenean was officially named as the new anthem, with the song officially replacing Otoitza on 1 October, 1992.

Lyrics

Lemovician Estmerish
First stanza

Aldamenean gure luŕa doakoa da
Gurucetik eta ikastecetik
Hori gure kultura suncicen sajatu zen
Eta gure bizica suncitu!

Side by side, our land is now free
From the cross and the school
That tried to destroy our culture
And destroy our life!

Chorus

Munduko langilejak, bat egin!
Ez zara inoiz esklabo izanen
Ipaŕaldekoei!

Workers of the world, unite!
Never again shall you be slaves
To the Miersans!

Second stanza

Orain igoceko garaia da
Askapenaren eŕonkara!
Burdina zapaldu, zure ecejak eraiki
Beraz, auŕera egingo duzu!

Now is the time for you to rise
To the challenge of freedom!
Strike the iron, build your homes
So you will thrive!

Chorus

Munduko langilejak, bat egin!
Ez zara inoiz esklabo izanen
Ipaŕaldekoei!

Workers of the world, unite!
Never again shall you be slaves
To the Miersans!
