Operation Downfall (21 March 2037 - 16 April 2038) was a significant event that happened during the Neocon War. With a combination of tactical and civil planning, it was to be the biggest plan ever set out by the Neocons during the Neocon War. It called for some of the most audacious operations that included the assassination of Heimdallr's best military commander, Field Marshal Kiriya Kitagawa, the kidnapping of HM King Noctis Lucis Caelum, and finally, the installment of Pro-Neocon leaders within the Heimdallr Council. The operation was seen by many the closest that the Heimdallr Council ever came close to defeat and surrender.

The plan given out was to be plotted by Joyonghean General Chang Gwan-mook, who contacted disgraced Gallian General Harold Shepherd Roth, who possessed Pro-Neocon views and wanted to overthrow the ruling government. The two were strongly aided by their military and political assets, including Task Force Nicator, Shadow Company, and the Alderney Group. In addition, Neocon leaders sought out the legendary Dath'Remarian artifact known as the Greathammer. Obtaining it however, would also mean it would require them to kidnap the King. The Neocons employed specialists to develop a device in order to bend the King's will against the Heimdallr forces. The operation began in 21 March 2037 when Roth employed Benedict Kitagawa, Kiriya's nephew and began to gather information.

However, Kiriya had began to become wary about Roth and his nephew's actions and as a result, employed his two sons, Yamato and Naoto to befriend the two to gather information. After much information gathering. The revelation finally came in Christmas 2037, when Benedict would unwittingly reveal the true nature of what Roth and Chang had planned for him. Immediately, Kitagawa moved against the two by means of plotting Mission Hale. Kiriya had a double prepared for the day of his assassination. Once the Neocons had "assassinated" him, Kitagawa would be free to commence Mission Hale's 2nd phase, which was the raid against both Roth's peace summit with the Neocon leaders and a raid on one of Task Force Nicator's most important bases. It was during phase mission where Roth was killed and the officials of Alderney Group were arrested.

Simultaneous to the assassination however, the King was kidnapped, along with the Greathammer nabbed. Immediately, security level within the UK reached to an all time high. Kitagawa ordered his eldest son, Yamato to rescue the King. In early April, Mission Breaking Point was launched in which the young Kitagawa managed to discover where the King and the Greathammer was being held. Yamato pitted up Task Force 141 against Task Force Nicator in an intense duel. When the Neocons managed to control the King's mind, TF 141 braced for cover. However, in an attempt to save the last remaining hope for Heimdallr, Yamato and Kasimira charged on the device, with Kasimira successfully destroying it and freeing the King from Neocon control. The Greathammer, however, saw a flash of energy brighten and infuse itself with the King. Both sides saw the King become possessed with the spirit of Dath'Remar, who summoned the powers of the Greathammer and forced Task Force Nicator to run.

Following this event, the Neocons would never again be able to obtain any significant advantage over Heimdallr, despite the Kataibatic Event taking place the following year, which only further accelerated the Neocons collapse and defeat.
