Greathammer
The Greathammer is one of the only two surviving ancient artifacts that were created by Europan King Dath'Remar in 131 B.C. It is the oldest surviving weapon artifact in existence in Eordis. It is the most powerful Dath'Remarian artifact ever known. It was created alongside the Felo'Melorn and Ban'dinoriel Sin'dorei by Dath'Remar during his struggles against the Valkyrur.
The existence of the Greathammer stemmed during the War of the Valkyrur, when Dath'Remar forged 3 weapons with his own bare hands, and infusing them with his own spells to make them more powerful than most weapons that existed at that time. Unlike the two other weapons, Dath'Remar summoned the power of the sky and lightning to infuse the Greathammer with its spells that granted him the power to call forth the lightning against his enemies. Although the Greathammer was the first one created, it was the last one to be used in battle, as the powers of the Greathammer became too much for the Valkyrur to handle that eventually forced them to retreat from Dath'Remar's conquests. As a result, the Greathammer was recognised as the weapon that shaped Europa and the Dath'Remarian Empire. Dath'Remar would use the weapon until his death in 51 B.C. But prior to his death, Dath'Remar implanted a spell in which only his descendants would only be allowed to use the weapons such that a commoner could not lift it even though the Greathammer has been said to have weighed only 10 kgs. On the day of his death, Dath'Remar would implant his soul within the Greathammer, such that it allowed him to speak within his descendant's mind and how one can utilise the Greathammer to its fullest effect.
During the War of the North, Aeltalor Lightflare, Dath'Remar's descendant would face off against Seleucus XI Theos. It was during the confrontation between the two that the Greathammer was pitted against the Kataibatic Tablet. The Greathammer was almost destroyed during the confrontation until the spirit of Dath'Remar emanated and possessed Lightflare. The Greathammer's superseded the tablet's power and as a result, the confrontation ended in a stalemate. Following the war that ended in status quo, Lightflare decreed that the powers of the Greathammer were far too dangerous once it fell into the wrong hands. As a result, the Dath'Remarian artifacts were locked and sealed deep within the ground and only accessed by 16 crystals.
The Greathammer would not see much notoriety until in the Imperial Crisis, when the Greathammer, along with Felo'Melorn were the subject of Maximillian III's artifact hunt. In an operation, Noctis Lucis Caelum went in an expedition along with Task Force 141 operatives to search for the two artifacts. It was during this operation that Felo'Melorn was destroyed, following Maximillian III's incantation of the blade. This also confirmed that he was not a descendant of Dath'Remar, which caused the artifact's destruction. At a later operation, the Greathammer was finally unearthed after a harsh gunfight between the Allies and the Imperials. Following the clash, Noctis unsealed the Greathammer's pedestal using one of the 16 crystals and was able to lift the Greathammer without much difficulty, confirming his roots as Dath'Remar's descendant. Following this operation, the Greathammer would be kept for many years until during the Neocon War, when General Enrico Marconi and his troops kidnapped the king, along with the Greathammer in his hand as a favour for the Neocon forces during Operation Downfall.
It was in this operation where the Greathammer was used against the Heimdallr forces. The Neocons has implanted a mind-controlling device towards HM The King in order to harness and use the Greathammer's powers against the Heimdallrs, thus winning the war for the Neocons. However, this would backfire, as Task Force 141 would ruin the Neocon plans by destroying the device and freeing the King from the control of the Neocons. Afterwards, the spirit of Dath'Remar possessed Noctis, and with the power of the Greathammer, Noctis (whilst under Dath'Remar's possession) called a severe lightning strike against the Neocon forces, forcing them to retreat from East Europa. Following the operation, the Greathammer was once again kept in storage with only those of King Noctis and his family knowing of its whereabouts.
