The RMV TTV (TTV - Tactisch Transportvoertuig - Tactical transport vehicle) is a family of modular high mobility off-road tactical transport trucks manufactured by Noordenstaatian military vehicle manufacturer RMV. The current version in production is third series of the TTV and the overall look of the vehicle is based on the original RMV TTV designed in 1965.

Currently 4x4, 6x6 and 8x8 variants are in production and are primarily used by the Armed Forces of Noordenstaat. Several civilian variants are also offered, such as firetruck platform used for airport firefighting units, and a transport variant used as a field hospital by the AFRC.

Description

The RMV TTV range of tactical trucks feature an advanced suspension system with a combination of leaf springs, telescopic shock absorbers and hydropneumatic suspension (on 8x8 last two axles). Drive axles are single tyre hub-reduction, with a selectable front axle(s) drive. An exception are heavier tractor units with all time all-wheel for traction and torque distribution. All axles are fitted with cross-axle differential locks and rear axles are fitted with longitudinal differential locks and the transfer case (on all axles on 8x8 models). Axle weight ratings are 9000 kg or 11,000 kg for front axles, and 10,000 kg for rear axles with single wheels/tyres. Front steer-drive axles (including the 2nd axle on 8x8 chassis) are sprung by a combination of parabolic leaf springs with progressively acting rubber assistors and hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers. Rear axles are sprung by inverted multi-leaf trapezoidal springs with radius rod and an anti-roll bar. A conventional rear bogie set-up is employed for 6×6 and 8×8 chassis. Hydropneumatic suspension is fitted to the rear two axles of the 8x8 chassis.

All models have an optional central tyre inflation module and run-flat capability.

All models can climb a 60% gradient, traverse a 40% sideslope, have an approach angle of 40 degrees, and ford 750 mm of water without preparation, this increasing to 1.5 m with preparation.

Cabin

The RMV TTV vehicles are fitted with a modular cabin in two versions, military and civilian. The military version differs from civilian in that it has a roof opening and mount for a light machine gun, the control table has switches for blackout lights and it has rifle mounts. The modularity of the cabin lies in its ability to be easily removed from the chassis or fitted with various addons, such as additional armour components to make it resistant to mines, rocket propelled grenades and direct fire. The safety package adds an additional 1500kg to the gross weight of the vehicle and involves armour panels on all sides of the cabin. Furthermore, the cabin can be fitted and protected against atomic, biological and chemical attacks, by equipping it with air filters, additional seals, etc.

Engine and transmission

The RMV TTV vehicles are fitted with a range of RMV diesel engines (RMV E3502, E3522, E3531 and E3600). The engine is placed conventionally, longitudinally between the chassis rails, while the cooling system is placed transversally at the rear of the cab. This provides a better protection of the radiator from mud and dust while operating off-road. It also allows for a substantially larger radiator, which enhances operability in hot climates.

The power is transferred with VF Tiptronic automated constant mesh gearbox with 12 front and two reverse gears coupled to a two-speed transfer case. A powershift-type fully automatic transmission is an option.
