The 2023 Green Party leadership election was held between July and August 2023. It was triggered by the Prime Minister, Clas Markussen, who called the election in an attempt to face-down critics within his Party. He announced his intention to stand for re-election, and was challenged by Albert H. Montpelier. Markussen was re-elected with 64% of the vote, on a turnout of 84%.
Procedure
The election was held under one member, one vote, with instant run-off preferential voting being used in the event more than two candidates are nominated for the leadership. Members were able to cast their votes either by post or online. Voting opened on Monday 28 July, and closed on Friday 11 August.
To be included on the ballot paper, candidates needed to be nominated by at least 15% of the Green Party's Members of Parliament, at the time 37 MPs.

- Saturday 29 July (12:00) - Last date to join as a member and be able to vote, last date to register for online voting
- Monday 31 July - Postal ballots sent out, online voting opens
- Friday 11 August - Last date for postal ballots to be returned, online voting closes
- Sunday 13 August - Results announced
- Monday 14 August - Annual conference opens
