Ananico is a city in the Zamastanian province of Jade, located in the foothills of the southernmost region of the Zian Mountains and on the entrance of Arelsamo National Forest. The city has a population of around 28,300 and has a tourist-centric economy thanks to the vistas around the city. Ananico was settled in the early 1700s by a Saint Offeatean logging company, and quickly grew as a frontier trading post. The town was the site of the Battle of Ananico in the War of Independence, and continued in its importance as a logging town. As the 20th century rolled around, however, the town's economy shifted to tourism as the National Park was established and many middle and upper class Zamastanians built vacation homes and cabins around the city. The Ananico National Circuit was built in the 1950s and the Ananico Grand Prix is an annual Crown Formula race held in the town. In 2021, Deni Melikov, otherwise known as the Ananico River Killer, was arrested after 22 years on the run.
