Anhae (!Korean and !Jeju: 안해), conventionally known as the Republic of Anhae is a hidden country in Hesterath. With a 2000 population census of 2,650,710 and an area of 883.57 km2 (341.15 sq mi). Base on their historical ties to Mathoi, these nations are notorious for hiding their existence from strictly countries outside of Mathoi. They fear that their existence will be revealed to countries outside of Mathoi.

Anhae is a presidential federal republic with a Unicameral parliament and government. President being the head of state and head of government, the Chief Justice being the head of the judiciary. And between this country and the Mathoian Strait are Mathoi.

History

Before the discovery

Anhae was inhabited by humans around 26,000 years ago, when the Mathoian Archipelago and Hesterath were joined together. But they disappeared around 10000 years ago, leaving only traces. Until the 8th century, the island was treated as a legend, with its existence known only to fishermen.

Forced relocation of Kumihos by order of local dispatch officials

In the mid-8th century, !Fujian local administration wanted to get rid of the Kumihos, so they punished them all by sending them into exile of the continent. Kumihos settled on the island with an initial settlement of 270 Kumihos, Anhae's existence began.

Embracing the practical academia from Mathoi

They became the center of Kumihos society, accepting the same Kumihos for hundreds of years, even fending off invasions from the continent with the people of the Mathoian Archipelago. In this historical interplay, they interacted with the natives, even those migrating to Mathoi, and accepted numerous Kumihos-Human mixes.

They developed close ties with the Mathoi as a result, being the only country to trade with the Mathoian archipelago despite being a hidden nation. It created a 'school of thought' around the 15th century, called the Mahak(馬學), which rapidly developed Anhae, which had been little more than a survival center for the Kumihos for hundreds of years.

Winds of Revolution

As a result of Mahak Era, the Anhaelite/Anhaenese continued to interact with the nations of the Mathoian archipelago, looking for reasons to overthrow the kingdom their ancestors had created in the 12th century. They rode the winds of democracy blowing through the Mathoi archipelago and overthrew their monarchy in the summer of 1783.

Modern Anhae : What Happened After Refusing to Move into Mathoi's Territory

Later, when the Republic of Mathoi was founded in the 1790s, they too were asked to become part of Mathoi with vast autonomy as a province or special municipality. However, the Anhae people refused due to their revolutionary awakening and their sense of nationhood. This was evidenced by the referendum held in 1799, where 51.5% voted in favor and 65.2% against.

This left a huge mark on the history of both Mathoi and Anhae. But 100-200 kilometers ahead of Anhae was the continent of Hesterath. For them, opening up meant the horrors of persecution and war. Therefore, in order to preserve their own policy of isolation, they adopted a policy of de facto delegating their diplomatic powers to Mathoi. As a result, a treaty was signed in Paklok in 1843, whereby their will was represented by Mathoi.

Military

The Anhae Armed Forces are the organizations that defend Anhae. They take the form of an army, navy, and air force. They are a mix of tanks/armored vehicles and cavalry in the army, and a mix of 20th century and later warships and 18th and 19th century old battleships in the navy. Their air force is also notorious for flying a mix of dragons and lower generation fighters/bombers. They are in the process of transitioning their armament, having recently signed an agreement with the Mathoi to jointly develop military aircraft.
