Anise Lyð (born 1 January 1971) is a Gylian screenwriter and writer. She is one of the main screenwriters for Dreamwave Productions, and has been involved in some of Gylias' most critically and commercially successful films, television series, and video games, both domestically and internationally.
Early life
Anise was born on 1 January 1971 in Şet. She is an only child, and grew up in a working-class family.
She became interested in writing aged 10, which her parents encouraged. She attended the Regional University of Dáuzas, graduating in 1992.
Career
Anise began working as a writer and screenwriter after leaving university. While visiting the set of a film project she was involved in, she met Saira Telyn, who was working as a production assistant. The two began a romantic relationship, and later married.
She joined Dreamwave Productions after it was established in 1995. After making its debut with several low-key projects, it gained its breakthrough in 1999 with the first film of the Taxi franchise. Dreamwave subsequently expanded into several media — anime, film, television, video games — and became one of Gylias' most successful production and distribution companies, particularly known for its skill in creating blockbusters and media franchises. It gained a significant audience abroad as a leading participant in the second Gylian Invasion.
Public image
Compared to her spouse, Anise is more low-key and prefers to avoid the spotlight in favour of behind-the-scenes work. She is known for her eccentric wardrobe and preference for dressing like an Alscian-era flapper.
Her recognisable writing style is characterised by memorable characters, witty dialogue, emphasis on worldbuilding, metahumour and humorous deconstruction of pop culture tropes to fit a more realistic setting. Her scripts include jokes about situations, comments aimed at script readers, and references.
Private life
Anise is married to Saira Telyn, a producer and close collaborator. Anise and Saira jointly serve as "creative editors-in-chief" for Dreamwave's productions, and have co-writing credits for all Dreamwave releases. Their close collaboration and complementary public images have earned them the reputation of a supercouple in the Gylian media. They have no children; Saira joked in an interview, "Our films are our children."
She is mainly a practitioner of Concordianism; her propensity to use monotheists as villains has drawn criticism in countries like Mansuriyyah. She describes herself as "an average socialist", and is a supporter of the Progressive Alliance.
