The Antarctic Light Infantry (ALI), formerly known as the the Royal Antarctic Light Infantry (RQLI), was an elite light infantry regiment formed in 1942 within the Antarctican Army. The unit is under direct command of the tri-service Special Forces Command along with the AQSAS. Unlike other light infantry units, the ALI specialises in Counter-insurgency operations around the world.
The regiment's tactics and training contributed to repeated successes in its counter-insurgency operations. The regiment's famous tactic of conducting "Searchlight Strikes", or quick, preemptive strikes against guerrillas based on local intelligence, was regarded as extremely successful and recreated by many militaries in foreign conflicts, including the TBDCONFLICT and TBDCONFLICT.
