Baron of Pe
Krim, 4th Baron of Pe (Shinasthana: 不侯臤, pe-gwa-krim; May 2, 1715 – Jun. 20, 1770) was a Themiclesian aristocrat and politician. He was Prime Minister of Themiclesia between 1763 and 1767, during the youth of Emperor Er. He was known as the "Baron of No" due to his terse and cryptic rejections of applications from other officers with the single word "no" (不), which happened to be phonetically the same as his barony.
Famous rejections
The Old Cathedral of Kien-k'ang preserves a 1765 letter by Pe to the Archbishop's three requests, containing only three "no" responses.
In my following there is a man who is facing execution for his crime. He wishes to procure a priest to the prison [where he is incarcerated] to approach and see him, and to bring comfort to his person, so that religious rites may be administered. Lyi, Archbishop in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, requests this permission, and then respectfully to proclaim your commands.
No.
Another follower [of mine] is taken to the business of the crown [i.e. performing labour service], and is obligated with executions. [He] is fearful and desires that a priest may be there, approaching him, to absolve him spiritually. This permission is requested.
No.
A junior priest has approached me, saying that one of his followers is at the crown's employ in the Marines, and [he] prays without speaking for not more than once a day. His officers would not permit it and puts him chains when he prays. This permission is requested.
No.
