Blue Kestrel Airways is a Radictistani low-cost airline. A new competitor to the incumbents, Royal Radictistan Airways and Norcust Aviation, it is now the third largest airline in Radictistan by passenger volume. The airline is still rapidly growing, with more aircraft on order compared to the size of its existing fleet than any of its competitors. Unlike the Radictistani legacy carriers, Blue Kestrel Airways operates using a point-to-point route system rather than adhering to the hub-and-spoke model. Blue Kestrel is able to find large cost advantages over the incumbent carriers by flying newer, more fuel efficient planes, by pioneering reduced turnaround times, and by charging for ancillary services normally included in an airline fare.

Onboard service

Unlike its full price competitors, Blue Kestrel subscribes to a no-frills approach to airline service. There are no travel classes, although on some aircraft the first two or three rows of seats have additional legroom. These can be reserved at check-in for an additional fee. There is no complimentary food service on any Blue Kestrel flight, although non-alcoholic beverages are provided. Snack foods and alcoholic beverages are available for onboard purchase.

The A320 and A321 aircraft are equipped with personal audio entertainment systems for all passengers. These systems offer both live radio and prerecorded music playlists. Passengers can use either their own headphone sets or purchase them from the cabin crew for RS5.

Blue Kestrel Airways charges extra for checked baggage. The first bag per person costs R$65 and each additional bag over that limit incurs a R$100 surcharge.

Innovations

Blue Kestrel Airways has buoyed its status as a dependable low-cost carrier through a number of innovations it has brought to the Radictistani air travel industry. Blue Kestrel was the first Radictistani airline to implement self-service check-in, online check-in, and the phaseout of paper tickets. These innovations have since been copied by Blue Kestrel's low-cost competitor Eastval Airlines and the traditional carriers.
