The Court of the Queen's Bench (or King’s Bench if Monarch is male) is the most senior court of last resort in Sydalon. First established by King Hugh I in 1293, the Queen's Bench holds appellate jurisdiction over all ordinary matters such as civil or criminal cases, as well as appellate jurisdiction over cases in administrative law, labor law, and over matters arising out of regional, domain courts. The Queen's Bench is the de jure court of last resort for all matters arising out of heraldry, nobility, and peerage, however in practice the Court of Peers primarily handles these matters. The Queen's Bench is responsible for interpretation of the Constitution. The Queen's Bench is responsible for the regulation of the legal profession in Sydalon.

The Queen's Bench is composed of seven members, appointed by the Monarch, and serve at his or her pleasure. The court is led by the First Lord of the Court. Achard Buonalberi, Lord Buonalberi has served as First Lord of the Court since 5 September 2017.

Composition

Members of the Queen's Bench are appointed by the Monarch, and serve at the pleasure of the Monarch. In theory, this allows the Monarch to dismiss and appoint judges at-will; however, in practice most appointed judges serve for life or until retirement. The role of First Lord of the Court serves as the court's chief officer, takes a key role in case selection, and serves as the director of the judicial administrative office. Most often, the First Lord of the Court most senior member of the court, though this is not always the case. His deputy is the Second Lord of the Court.
