The Grand Priory of Demoran (Alpanian: Magnus Prioratus Demorantis), known more commonly as the Demoran, is the sovereign state in Northern Aestia located in the world of Verthandi, bordered by the Vicariate of Vespera to the West, the Polity of Sophia to the East, and the Despotate of Nikeaneon to the South. The Grand Priory is a chapter of the Knights of St. Christopher, a sovereign military order, granted authority of Demoran, one of the colonies of the Holy Aventine Empire, in the late sixteenth century. It functioned as part of the Imperial Vicariate of Vespera, and was tied to the other Imperial colonies in the region, although it remained de jure independence. After the fall of Imperial Hestaica, the Grand Priory gained full dependence. Its well organized and trained Knights adapted well to the wars that engulfed the region towards the end of the Clementine Wars, and the Knights quickly grew to be considered the most elite military force in the Region of Greater Vespera, despite their smaller numbers. They managed to keep the Grand Priory's independence from its neighbors. To this day the Knights of Demoran keep a proud and strong military tradition, working to adapt their Order to the changes in modern warfare. Although a small state, they maintain the most professional army in the Region of Greater Vespera, and are still a force to be reckoned with.
