The Despotate of Nikeaneon (Hellian: Δεσποτατε Νικεανεον), known more commonly as the Nikeaneon, is the sovereign state in Northern Aestia located in the world of Verthandi, bordered by the Republic of Rello to the West; the The Vicariate of Vespera, the Grand Priory of Demoran and the Polity of Sophia to the North, and Commonwealth of Liutpert to the Northwest. The primary Hellian colony in the region of Greater Vespera, the Despot Anaxemor of Nikeaneon declared independence after the fall of Imperial Hestaica during the Clementine Wars. He led his forces in wars against the other Hellian states which he and his successors would later subjugate, until by 1860 Nikeaneon included all of the Hellian settlements in northern Aestia, save Sophia. Nikeaneon has since gotten into several unsuccessful wars with Demoran and Rello and Liutpert, all of which have generally ended unresolved. It is a highly martial and militarized state, with a strong emphasis on military tradition, service, and martial glory. The Despot keeps a tight control on the population, which in the past has led to several rebellions.
