Easy Life is a Gylian animated series which aired on Channel A in 2011–2015. Produced by Anim-Activity and the Gylian National Film Institute, it is a nénédie comedy following the adventures of Lisa "Izzy" Easley, who relies on her attractiveness to lead a slacker lifestyle.

Plot

The series is set in contemporary Iásas, and follows the adventures of Lisa Easley, who goes by the nickname "Izzy". Izzy is an extremely voluptuous and proud woman, who seeks to be a NEET.

The show's central joke is that Izzy puts far more effort into laziness than she realizes, and regularly gets herself into more complicated situations, usually involving trading sexual favours, that could've been easily resolved with a minimal effort on her behalf. The only work she is seen doing with some regularity is sex work and being a wet nurse.

Izzy lives in Iásas and strives to lead a low-effort slacker life. She has a voluptuous body and large breasts, which usually cause comical wardrobe malfunctions. She wears an outfit similar to the "uniform" of NetStreamers Chiyo and Kei Takenomiya, with the shirt usually unbuttoned to show as much of her breasts. She has grey hair which is tied into a bun, leading to a running gag of others being unsure how old she is.
She is extremely cocky, smug, and proud of her voluptuous body and large breasts. She voices strong refusal of work sentiments, and her main interest is having sex with other people. In every situation, in order to get what she wants, her first instinct is to flash her breasts or offer sexual favours, which always succeeds.
Despite her constant shirking and immense vanity, Izzy enjoys the respect of her fellow Iásans. Among her qualities, she is sharp-witted and a gifted storyteller — one of her friends jokes that she "narrates her life like a tall tale". Her straightforward and open enthusiasm for sex makes her greatly attractive and popular with her partners and one-night stands. Through these qualities, she has amassed a large daisy chain of friends and acquaintances, and an enormous ledger of outstanding favours from others that she relies on in daily life.

Production

Easy Life was commissioned by Channel A, a pay-per-view adult channel. Noticing the success of Castle Bang and Ballad for a Sex God, the channel hoped that an original nénédie series would help increase viewership. They approached Anim-Activity for the project after their initial choice, Kamanimation, was unavailable.

The central idea of the show came from one of the animators jokingly asking "what if Lust was actually named Sloth?". The team developed this into the premise of a woman who goes to extreme lengths to avoid "doing an honest day's work", without realising that she's making greater efforts than she would by simply goofing off at a job. One writer joked that they went so far in exploring the theme of barter and reciprocity that the final result was "porn, if written by Ţaisa Eşal".

One of the team members was a fan of Chiyo and Kei Takenomiya's channel, and contacted them to ask permission to use their "uniforms" for Izzy, which they granted. They voiced themselves in a cameo appearance in one episode.

Rena Neleş was the only choice for voicing the protagonist. She said in an interview: "I met with the voice director, and I asked, so what's the angle on the character? They said, did you watch Totally Spies!? I said I did. They just said 'Mandy', and boom, I immediately understood. I got to play a creature of pure egotism and make her irresistibly charming. It was great fun."

The series was produced by Anim-Activity and the Gylian National Film Institute between 2011 and 2015, and aired on Channel A. It had no opening sequence, and each episode would have two segments of 5 minutes length, which the team concluded to be the optimal length.

Reception

Easy Life was a critical and commercial success upon airing. It became one of the biggest hits of the nénédie genre, with reviewers praising the strong characterisation, comedy, and voice acting.

Radix praised the show's use of a sex comedy framework to explore topics of barter and gift economy. Animonthly praised Izzy's characterisation as "a woman so utterly self-confident and entertainingly arrogant she becomes irresistible to watch."

The show succeeded in increasing Channel A's exposure and audience as intended, and Izzy became something of an unofficial mascot for the channel.

The series was uploaded to Proton TV as it aired, and was later released on DVD.
