Elmhill is the capital city of the Zamastanian province of Landeda, and it is the third-largest city in the province after Landeda and Sandsea with a population of 125,000, making it the smallest provincial capital in the country. Elmhill is the commercial, financial, transportation and industrial center of the northern end of the province. The city's economy developed from drift mining for coal in the late 19th century and agriculture in the early 20th century. Half of the workforce is employed in the health, education, retail and hospitality sectors, and the top five employers are government-based. Cultural venues in the city include performing art theatres, museums and sports centers.
