The Englean Democratic Republic (German: Engleanische Demokratische Republik) is a small state in Eastern Ventismar. The state describes itself as the result of the "escape of the Englean working class from the chains of the bourgeois monarchy." The state was created after the defeat of Rezua in the Second Great War by the People's Home Defense Army, a communist resistance organisation created within occupied Englean territories, which was outlawed and heavily persecuted by the Englean Imperial Army. Discussions with the leadership of Librira resulted in the Treaty of Libra in 1948, in which the PHDA was granted three islands captured from Rezua by the Libriran Army. Adopting the Libriran model of government, the state was declared a socialist worker's republic as well as claiming itself to be the legitimate government of all Englean territories. Due to this claim, the Englean imperial government considered the existence of the EDR null and void. Currently the EDR exists primarily as a Libriran satellite state.
