The Fourth Army was a field army of the Royal Confederate Army during the Northern War. It was raised following the outbreak of hostilities and took part in Operation Ziedonis, later playing vital roles in the Lake Yunkina Operations, the Battle of the Siyalova River, and Operation Skomantas. Following the Letnian Spring Offensive, the Fourth Army narrowly avoided destruction at the Battle of the Stuysk Delta.

History

The Fourth Army was the first field army to be raised following the outbreak of hostilities in preparation for the counter-invasion of Letnia. It, alongside the First Army and Third Army invaded Letnia in spring of 1941, scoring a number of victories against the Letnian Imperial Army while passing through the Gasha Mountains. In the winter of 1941-42 the Fourth Army carried out the Lake Yunkin Operations, which resulted in the destruction of two Letnian Fronts in the Ivayev Pocket. On 8 July 1942 the Fourth Army seized Stuysk and pushed further north, crossing the Siyalova River. For most of 1943 the Fourth Army found around the Siyalova, eventually being forced to retreat west after Operation Pirozhkov. Following the Letnian Spring Offensive the Fourth Army nearly became trapped in the Stuysk Delta, and was decimated in the fighting. What remained of the army retreated west under the cover of the Seventh Army.
