Frederick's Fries Corporation, often simply referred to as Frederick's Fries, is a Luziycan multinational fast food restaurant. It is founded and headquartered in Semprihevosk, Ustyereki, where the first restaurant is established by businessman Frederik Bobnar in 1960. After his death, his wife Ljiljana and successive Boards of directors oversaw the franchise, which expanded internationally for the first time in 1972, before selling it to businessman Petros Damaskinos.

Management by Damaskinos and his successors allowed Frederick's Fries to continue expanding across Esquarium. Frederick's Fries's transition to a multinational restaurant meant that affiliates became more influential and important in the operation of restaurants. Since 1985, Frederick's Fries is Luziyca's largest food service operator. As of 2016, total revenue is estimated to be $5.7 billion.

Frederick's Fries is known for and was originally oriented towards french fries. It is also known for hamburgers, milkshakes, doughnut holes, frozen desserts, and breakfast items. It has promised since 2008 to aim for use of additives-free ingredients and environmentally-friendly products, and is among the numerous food service operators that contribute significantly to charitable efforts.

Naming

The brand "Frederick's Fries" was deliberately chosen by Frederik Bobnar, as Bobnar believed that "adding the c would make the brand more exotic and more high-brow than mere Frederik."

The possessive case (Frederick's) was deliberately chosen by Bobnar as a stylistic decision, saying in the April of 1967 that "this apostrophe, this usage may not be correct in any known language, but this serves to all peoples that the apostrophe-s is a symbol of the chain."

As well, an adaption of the Aininian frites, "fries," was used, so that, according to Bobnar, "even if the restaurant is perceived to be high-brow, it is nonetheless at heart, a fast-food restaurant."

History

On July 14, 1960, Frederik Bobnar opened Frederick's Foods Stand in the outskirts of Semprihevosk. Warm reviews, a steady flow of customers and high levels of success persuaded Bobnar to open more restaurants, though they were opened in the city outskirts due to Bobnar's skepticism of their success. Newer restaurants were known as Frederick's Fast Foods.

He franchised the first downtown Frederick's Fast Foods in 1961. Bobnar, thoroughly convinced that his restaurants could fare well, established an outlet in Limani in the same year. Several months after opening the Limanian outlet devised a poutine-like dish that quickly became popular with the city's residents. The popularity of the dish, named Frederick's Fries, preluded the establishment of a nationwide restaurant chain. Bobnar renamed his fast food chain to Frederick's Fries, bearing the same name as their most popular food item.

In 1965, Frederick's Fries outlets were found in other cities such as Bethlehem, Pristanische, and in Granitsygrad. Hamburgers were introduced by the same year. Bobnar died in June 1967 and his wife, Ljiljana Bobnar, took over the fast food chain. The wealth left over by Frederik Bobnar, along with steady revenues, helped Ljiljana Bobnarand the board of directors to maintain the restaurants that were set up across Luziyca.

Shortly before Ljiljana's death on January 31, 1975, she and corporate directors negotiated a deal with businessman Petros Damaskinos to allow him to purchase Frederick's Fries in 1974 for $800 million. Damaskinos assisted in having the chain listed in Luziycan public markets, which occurred in February 1975. Since that time, Frederick's Fries Corporation had expanded into various countries around Esquarium. In 1995, Damaskinos resigned as chairman of Frederick's Fries and was replaced by Vassili Karchagin.

Frederick's Fries is currently the largest food service operator in Luziyca, with 21,294 active outlets serving over 25 million people daily as of 2016.

Menu

Cuisine names tend to contain "Frederick's" regardless of Frederik Bobnar's involvement or lack thereof, and examples include Frederick's Strawberry Milkshake, introduced in 1965.

In the early times of Frederick's Fast Foods, outlets offered French fries, potato chips, simple salads, and coffee. French fries (FrederSticks) were and are produced with potato skin left alone. Early salads such as Frederick's Salad (now known as Frederick's Original Salad) contained mostly lettuce, tomatoes, and sliced eggs. All coffee was black by default so as to suit Luziycan tradition. Seasoning, milk and cream were also provided.

The Frederick's Fries dish involves spreading Luziycan cheese sauce (sometimes dubbed the "golden sauce") over french fries, and unlike earlier fries they have less intact potato skin. It turned the fast food chain's attention towards its french fries, and since then they come in various forms that can be ordered from all outlets. After changes in the fries section, hamburgers were introduced along with fried chicken and milkshakes of multiple flavors.

Salads and coffee were revised in 1966. Unlike Frederick's Original Salad, new salads such as Frederick's Ham Salad contained meat while others such as Frederick's Fruit Salad use only fruits and fruit sauce. As for coffee, other variants such as frozen coffee are offered and non-dairy creamers became available.

Doughnuts and ice creams in Frederick's Fries first appeared in 1980. Doughnut holes (entitled "Frederick's Bits" or "FrederBits") and frozen desserts were sold soon after in 1981. The Frederick's Millennium Wave in 2000 saw the introduction of several products such as Velocity drinks, and veggie burgers in its outlets.

Since 2008, Frederick's Fries made promises to use organic or additive-free ingredients such as antibiotic-free chicken and beef. In 2015, Frederick's Fries announced it was switching from frozen meats to fresh meats completely, a plan that was supposedly accomplished by the beginning of 2017.

Locations and Operations

Frederick's Fries is headquartered at 150 Tabernakulov Boulevard in Semprihevosk, Ustyereki. Numerous countries have Frederick's Fries locations or outlets which amount to a total of over 30,000. As of 2016 there are 21,294 active outlets in Luziyca alone. Frederick's Fries may be found in (TBC) countries in Esquarium.

Luziyca

Early growth of Frederick's Fries was considered to be sluggish. Frederik Bobnar was not convinced to accelerate expansion of his brand, despite the success of the first Frederick's Fast Foods stand. The next outlets to open were located in the outskirts of Semprihevosk, which may have avoided significant competition with other restaurants that then had greater popularity. Semprihevosk had six Frederick's Fast Foods locations, including the original location, before Bobnar introduced the restaurant to Limani in December 1961.

Interest in Frederick's Fast Foods rapidly spread several months after the first Limanian outlet was opened. The Frederick's Fries dish, first created in 1962, was credited with bringing widespread attention to Bobnar's business and accelerating its outreach to other parts of Bobnar. As a result, Bobnar was much more liberal on the expansion of Frederick's Fast Foods. The success of Frederick's Fries also incited the renaming of the business after the most-sold dish in 1962.

Frederick's Fries was introduced to Bethlehem in 1963, Pristanische and Granitsygrad in 1964, and Kenyen in 1965. Though the corporation built up with increased revenue and popularity, it faced significant competition with local restaurants and other fast food chains.

By 1985 Frederick's Fries has emerged to be one of the largest fast food chains and operators in Luziyca, and a majority of its milestones were set in Luziyca.

International

Frederick's Fries began reaching locations outside of Luziyca in... (TBC). In present day, the total of Frederick's Fries outlets in Esquarium exceeds thirty thousand.

There were plans to expand the franchise, but due to anti-reform pressure these were halted. The restaurant now serves as the only way for Nunalikans to access western culture and is highly politicised.

Impact

Charity

In 1996, after Petros Damaskinos resigned from his position as chairman, he founded the Damaskinos Foundation, a public organization which initially sought to address poverty in Luziyca. Frederick's Fries has donated a total of $25 million since 2000 to the Damaskinos Foundation, which expanded over time to address a variety of social issues. Frederick's Fries also cooperated with other charitable organizations and sponsored efforts such as school outreach programs.

Culture

By the early 21st century, Frederick's Fries is recognized to symbolize contemporary Luziycan culture. This trend is likely explained by the success of Frederick's Fries in Luziyca (it is the largest food service operator in the country) as well as its successful establishment in various other countries in Esquarium. Frederick's Fries is known for creating several beliefs and clichés, such as Luziycans consuming more French fries than any other people.

Because of the cultural influence associated with Frederick's Fries, any positive or negative attributes to the food chain may later be thought of as applicable to Luziycan culture in general. This phenomenon is known as "Frederick's Effect" and has been especially notable in the late 20th century.

Frederick's Fries has been involved in numerous international events. The 1999 and 2007 editions of the Katranjian Grand Tour were respectively won by Gordonn Bymadi and Robert Smitt, both of whom were sponsored by Frederick's Fries.

Criticism and Controversies

Frederick's Fries has been involved in several labour-related controversies, in particular allegations that the corporation opposes unionization of employees and reprimands those that attempt to seek collective bargaining; and allegations that employees were paid less than the minimum wage in certain countries. It has also been accused of using anti-competitive practices to firmly establish itself in certain economies and ward off competing food service operators. It has denied such allegations, claiming that it strongly opposes maltreatment of employees and law-breaking practices, and that it constantly seeks to improve working conditions.

The fast food chain received criticism from various environmental and animal rights groups over its environmental records and its supply chain, the latter of which was accused of relying on factory farming facilities. In 2008, Frederick's Fries announced an energy transition plan which would supposedly shift 50% of its outlets to dependence on renewable energy by 2020. The fast food franchise also announced a shift in its supply chain, which would revolve on animal welfare-sensitive products such as cage-free eggs and addictive-free products such as antibiotic-free meat.

Luziyca

In 2005, while sponsoring several school outreach programs in the Luziycan state of Shenitsa, Frederick's Fries was accused by the Shenitsa Association of Parent Advisory Committees of "egregiously-extensive advertising" in multiple educational facilities. The association claimed that through its measures, Frederick's Fries is "promoting unhealthy choices and manipulating the susceptible consciousness of students". Frederick's Fries rejected any claims that such practices were intentional, but it cooperated in investigations led by local school boards. The franchise released a statement saying that it was "troubled" by any misconduct, which it claimed would not tolerate.

Frederick's Fries cooperated with the Cultural and Traditional Defense Society (CTDS) and was scheduled to organize a day of cultural awareness activities in Luziyca in 2010. The fast food chain was quickly condemned by the Association of Undivided Unity and other civil rights organizations, all of which noted that CTDS had political motivations (e.g. opposing same-sex marriages), numerous high-ranking members had relations with the Purity Congress, and the day of cultural awareness was intended to "promote awareness of Luziycan culture by bashing immigrants and diffusing racist attitudes". Frederick's Fries broke its ties with the society, stating that the association violated its policy of political neutrality. CTDS merged with the currently-active (TBC) in 2012.
