The Gallowglass Airborne Regiment, (3rd, abbreviated GAR), is a regiment of the Confederate Brytisc Fleet, with a recruiting area covering much of Dyflin Canton, including the canton capital of Dyflin. It currently consists of two primary battalions and a reserve battalion, and is headquartered in Caer Cadarn on the outskirts of Dyflin, under the command of Colonel Raghnall MacIomhair.

Structure

The Regiment is split into three battalions, with a total strength of 1429 active-duty personnel.

1st Battalion (Heavy)

The 1st Battalion is commanded by Lt. Col. Teresa Cooper. The battalion contains five companies, including the 1st (Command and engineering), the 2nd (armoured), and the 3rd, 4th, and 5th (para). The 2nd company contains the battalions' only armour, Tyr IFV and Nihtgenga LAC vehicles with airdrop capacity.

2nd Battalion (Light)

Commanded by Lt. Col. Finian Grey, the second battalion consists of five companies, all of which are light airborne units. The 10th company contains the regimental pathfinder units.

3rd Battalion (Reserve)

The 3rd Battalion is a reserve battalion, used for recruiting, training, and replenishment. It is commanded by Lt. Col. Aoife Tallhallow, who is also the commanding officer of the Caer Cadarn barracks. The 3rd Battalion never leaves barracks - instead, individual reinforcements are packeted out by transfer from the 3rd to one of the primary battalions, whilst soldiers on long-term leave or seconded to special duties are returned to 3rd Battalion for administrative purposes.

Regimental history and tradition

The Gallowglass Airborne Regiment began as the Household Guard of the High Kings of Dyflin, raised from Dyflin-Vikingr families. These warriors were typically the younger sons and daughters of the area, well-equipped and trained. Following the Fall of Dyflin, the Gallowglass were incorporated into the Brytisc military, becoming the core of a full regiment under arms based in Dyflin.

The unit saw action during the First Great War, where it was volunteered for the experimental plans to use aircraft to deploy what Fleet Command provisionally named 'Airborne Dragoons'. Casualties were high, but the Gallowglass light infantry proved pivotal in achieving a strategic breakthrough on the Western Front near Peysac, and in 1918 the regiment was renamed the Gallowglass Airborne Regiment, dedicated to developing and improving airborne warfare strategies.

The regiment has seen little frontline action, with its personnel typically used for peacekeeping and anti-crime operations in Pepper Atoll and further afield. The regiment is known to participate in training Rangers of R-DARK.
