The Gladysynthian Armed Forces are in charge of guaranteeing the sovereignty and independence of the United Provinces of Gladysynthia, defending its territorial integrity and the constitutional order. The military in its current form was adopted in 1941 with the establishment of the United Provinces, but it has existed in various forms since the 1300s. The Gladysynthian Armed Forces contain four main factions: The Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Guard. As of 2022, there were 636,342 members of the Armed Forces listed as "Reserve Duty," with 264,092 listed as "Active Duty."

The Gladysynthian Armed Forces are a professional force with a strength in 2022 of 636,342 reserve personnel and 269,250 active personnel.

Army

The Gladysynthian Army consists of -- active brigades and -- military regions. Modern infantry have diverse capabilities and this is reflected in the varied roles assigned to them. There are four operational roles that infantry battalions can fulfil: air assault, armoured infantry, mechanised infantry, and light role infantry.

Air Force

The Gladysynthian Air Force currently has 16 fighter squadrons, each with 18-24 airplanes. It maintains some 350 aircraft in total, of which around 230 are fighter aircraft. The Gladysynthian Air Force is replacing older aircraft in the inventory with newer ones including the domestically-produced S-25 Sparrow and S-28 Swallow.

Navy

Equipment

Naval vessels in the Gladysynthian Navy utilize the ship prefix GHS, meaning Gladysynthian High Ship. The Navy is comprised of two aircraft carriers, -- destroyers, -- cruisers, -- frigates, -- submarines, and dozens of patrol vessels.

Aircraft carriers

The Gladysynthian Navy has two operational aircraft carriers, the domestically produced GHS Clarkson, and the Sukarno-class GHS Marsden, which was purchased from the UCSS in 1991. The Clarkson-class originally held another vessel within the Gladysynthian navy, but it was sold to Elbresia in 2004 and was renamed the ESS Cormac Cowpeland.
