The HTH/AM-203 is an advanced self-propelled mortar system developed jointly by Riysa and Neu Engollon, the latter via the company of Schwyz Logiztek. It entered service in early 2013.
Description
The HTH/AM-203 is designed to provide highly-mobile fire support. To this end, it was based off of a heavily-modified NJM Salamah chassis, allowing for conversions from the older APC, and giving the mortar system the characteristic amphibious and airmobile features of the Salamah. The high mobility greatly increases its survivability by evasion, allowing the enemy little time to detect and attack the vehicle.
The fire control and communications systems were developed by Schwyz Logiztek of Neu Engollon. It uses a combination of digital-topographical mapping, GPS, and inertial positioning to give the system excellent accuracy, and is also capable of up to 16 rounds of MRSI. A single strike from an HTH/AM-203 is equivalent to a salvo from an artillery battery. The vehicle is also networked with Schwyz systems, although to ensure compatibility with the existent Rummaneh system, vehicles in Riysian service have their own networking software.
The Riysian 1N00 sights, an upgrade of the 1N85 on the Salamah, are used on the HTH/AM-203. Like its predecessor, it consists of a telescoping optical sight, an image intensifier, and a thermal imaging sight. Also, like on the Salamah, periscopes are used instead of vision blocks. In addition to the sights, it also has an automatic designator system tied in to the fire control system, allowing the vehicle commander to seek out and attack his own targets independently of any observer or reconnaissance vehicles.
The mortar itself is a twin-barreled breech-loading 120 mm mortar, capable of firing a wide variety of ammunition, which includes high-explosive, smoke, and cluster munitions.
